The City of New York’s Department of Transportation issued a traffic alert for this week providing the locations of road construction and events where lane and street closings will affect the flow of traffic. Lane closings may also occur due to circumstances beyond our control. Major road, lane and street closings for the coming week are as follows:

East River Bridge Crossings

Ed Koch/Queensboro Bridge

Single-lane Queens-bound south upper roadway will be closed 24/7. Double-lane Queens-bound south upper roadway will be closed Tuesday to Friday from 9:30 am to 3 pm and from 8 pm to 5 am next morning. During second lane closure, one Manhattan-bound upper roadway lane will reverse to service Queens-bound traffic. Queens-bound south outer roadway will be closed Sunday to Saturday from 11 pm to 6 am next morning. These closures are necessary to facilitate replacement of upper roadway.

Williamsburg Bridge

Single-lane Brooklyn-bound south outer roadway will be closed Tuesday to Friday from 5 am to 6 pm. Single-lane Brooklyn-bound south inner roadway will be closed Tuesday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm. Single-lane Manhattan-bound north outer roadway will be closed Tuesday to Friday from 6 pm to 5 am next morning. Single-lane Manhattan-bound north inner roadway will be closed Tuesday to Friday from 8 pm to 5 am next morning. These closures are necessary to facilitate Structural Strengthening and rehabilitation.

Manhattan

FDR Drive Southbound between Jackson Street and Cherry Street

Single-lane will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10 pm to 5:30 am next morning, Friday from 11 pm to 7 am next morning, and Sunday from 11 pm to 10 am next morning. Double-lane will be closed Tuesday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 6 am, and Sunday from 1 am to 7 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate East Side Coastal Resiliency Project and will continue through September 11, 2026.

FDR Drive at 6 Street

Single-lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Thursday from 11 pm to 5:30 am next morning through October 10, 2024, to facilitate abandon FDNY manhole and restore the roadway.

FDR Drive southbound at Exit 3 and 4

Single-lane southbound will be closed Monday to Thursday from 11 pm to 5:30 am next morning, Saturday from 12:01 am to 6:30 am, and Sunday from 1 am to 11 am. Double-lane southbound will be closed Tuesday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday from 2 am to 6 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 7 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate repairs to the underground facilities and will continue through June 15, 2024.

FDR Drive between Montgomery Street and East 15 Street

Single-lane northbound and/or southbound will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Saturday from 12:01 am to 9 am, and Sunday from 1 am to 11 am. Double-lane will be closed Tuesday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 7 am, and Sunday from 1 am to 7 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate median reconstruction and will continue through August 15, 2026.

FDR Drive Southbound Entrance Ramp between East Houston Street and Delancey Street

Entrance ramp to southbound FDR will be closed Tuesday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday from 2 am to 6 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 7 am, through June 30, 2024, to facilitate access to the manhole/underground facilities.

FDR Drive Southbound at 74 Street

Single-lane will be closed Monday to Thursday from 11 pm to 5:30 am next morning, Friday from 11 pm to 6:30 am next morning, and Sunday from 12 am to 11 am, through June 30, 2024, to facilitate facade repairs.

Northbound Route 9A/West Street between Warren Street and Hubert Street

Single-lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning, and Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm. Double-lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Saturday from 1 am to 8 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 10 am. Triple-lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 7 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 8 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate Coastal Resiliency Project and will continue through July 1, 2024.

Southbound Route 9A/West Street between Hubert Street and Warren Street

Single-lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 9 pm to 5 am next morning, and Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm. Double-lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 9 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 10 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate Coastal Resiliency Project and will continue through July 1, 2024.

Haitian Parade NYC

The following streets will be closed for the Haitian Parade NYC on Saturday June 1st, 2024 at the discretion of the NYPD in Manhattan.

Formation:

  • Central Park West between 86th and 72nd Street
  • 85th – 81st Streets between Columbus Avenue and Central Park West

Route:

  • Central Park West between 81st Street and 71st Street

The following streets will be closed for the St. Nicholas Avenue Fair on Saturday June 1st, 2024 at the discretion of the NYPD in Manhattan.

The following streets will be closed for the Philippine Independence Day Celebration Parade on Sunday June 2nd, 2024 at the discretion of the NYPD in Manhattan.

  • 36th Street between Madison Avenue 5th Avenue

Route:

  • Madison Avenue between 27th Street and 38th Street

Dispersal:

  • 27th Street between 5th Avenue and Park Avenue

Festival:

  • Madison Avenue between 24th Street and 26th Street
  • 26th Street between Madison Avenue and Park Avenue

Bronx/Manhattan

Broadway Bridge over the Harlem River

Right lane in both directions will close Monday to Friday from 7 am to 3 pm and alternating center lane in either direction will close Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm through June 7, 2024, to facilitate rope cable cleaning, machinery repairs, and electrical conduit installation. Alternating sidewalk closures will be in effect.

Madison Avenue Bridge over Harlem River

Single-lane at a time in either direction will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm. Single-lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 pm to 6 am next morning, and Saturday from 10 pm to 7 am next morning. Bridge will be fully closed Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5 am. Bronx-bound will be closed Saturday from 12:01 am to 6 am and Manhattan-bound will be closed Saturday from 12:01 am to 7 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate bridge rehabilitation and will continue through June 30, 2024. Motorist may use 145 Street Bridge as an alternate route.

Bronx

Broadway in the vicinity of Henry Hudson Parkway Bridge overpass

Northbound will be reduced to one travel lane and parking lane will be closed. Northbound sidewalk and bike lane will be shifted. These closures are necessary to facilitate rehabilitation of the Henry Hudson Parkway Bridge and will continue through June 30, 2024.

Bronx River Parkway between Gun Hill Road and Nereid Avenue

Single-lane southbound will be closed through September 9, 2024, to facilitate bridge replacement over the Metro-North Railroad. Two travel lanes southbound and three travel lanes northbound will be maintained at all times.

Cross Bronx Expressway between Arthur Avenue and Clay Avenue

Single-lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5 am and double-lane will be closed from 1 am to 5 am through August 30, 2024, except holidays, to facilitate in-depth inspections.

Entrance Ramp from Southbound Sheridan Boulevard (NY-895) to Westbound Bruckner Expressway (I-278)

This ramp will be closed through December 24, 2024, to facilitate Hunts Point Interstate Access Improvement Project. Trucks and buses are advised to use the exit ramp towards Edgewater Road/Hunts Point Market and follow the detour signs and use the Leggett Avenue entrance ramp to westbound Bruckner Expressway. Cars are advised to use the temporary exit ramp towards Whitlock Avenue and follow the detour signs to westbound Bruckner Expressway.

Hutchinson River Parkway Bridge over the Hutchinson River

Northbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 12 am to 5 am through June 14, 2024, to facilitate removal and refurbish of live load assemblies. Motorists are advised to use Pelham Parkway as an alternate route.

Major Deegan Expressway (northbound) between Exit 3 and Entrance ramp north of East 138 Street

Right-lane will become an exit only lane at Exit 3 24/7. Additional lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 11 pm to 5 am, Saturday and Sunday from 1 am to 8 am, and Sunday night from 10 pm to 5 am next morning through March 3, 2025 to facilitate East 138 Street Bridge replacement. Full closure may occur Monday to Friday between 12 am and 5 am for demolition and erection of the superstructure.

Major Deegan Expressway (southbound) between Exit 3 and Entrance ramp south of East 138 Street

Right-lane will become an exit only lane at Exit 3 24/7. Additional lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 11 pm to 5 am, Saturday and Sunday from 1 am to 8 am, and Sunday night from 10 pm to 5 am next morning through March 3, 2025 to facilitate East 138 Street Bridge replacement. Southbound exit ramp to 138 Street bridge will be closed Monday to Friday from 11 pm to 5 am, Friday from 11 pm to 6 am next morning, Saturday from 11 pm to 9 am next morning, and Sunday from 11 pm to 5 am next morning to facilitate water main connections.

Shore Road Bridge over the Hutchinson River

Single-lane northbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 7 am to 9 am and single-lane in both directions will be closed from 9 am to 1 pm and 10 pm to 7 am next morning through June 28, 2024 to facilitate maintenance. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times.

Brooklyn

7 Avenue Bridge over LIRR between 64 Street and 62 Street

Approximately 60 parking spaces will be eliminated on 17 Avenue between 62 and 64 Streets and travel lanes will be shifted to the parking lanes, Monday to Friday from 7 am to 6 pm, through June 28, 2024, to facilitate bridge rehabilitation.

18 Avenue Bridge over LIRR between 52 Street and 54 Street

Approximately 40 parking spaces will be eliminated on 18 Avenue between 52 and 54 Streets and travel lanes will be shifted to the parking lanes, Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm. Approximately 18 parking spaces will also be eliminated on 53 Street between 17 and 19 Avenues. These closures are necessary to facilitate 18 Avenue bridge rehabilitation and will continue through June 28, 2024.

Brooklyn-Queens Expressway Queens-bound between Atlantic Avenue Entrance Ramp and Manhattan Bridge Exit Ramp

Queens-bound will be fully closed from Saturday 2 am to Monday 4 am to facilitate repairs. Also, 3 Avenue entrance ramp, 6 Avenue entrance ramp, Prospect Expressway entrance ramp, Hamilton Avenue entrance ramp, and Atlantic Avenue entrance ramp will also be closed. Motorists are advised to detour via Atlantic Avenue.

Hamilton Avenue Bridge over Gowanus Canal

Manhattan-bound lanes will be closed, Monday to Friday from 11 pm to 5 am next morning, through June 7, 2024, to facilitate urgent repairs. All traffic will be shifted to State Island-bound with two lanes in each direction.

Festivals, Parades and Events

International Children’s Parade and Festival

The following streets will be closed for the International Children’s Parade and Festival on Sunday June 2nd, 2024 at the discretion of the NYPD in Brooklyn.

Formation & Route:

  • Graham Avenue between Metropolitan Avenue and Grand Street

Dispersal & Festival:

  • Graham Avenue between Debevoise Street and Broadway

5th Avenue Festival

The following streets will be closed for the 5th Avenue Festival on Sunday June 2nd, 2024 in Brooklyn.

Queens

Belt Parkway/Laurelton Parkway

Shoulder and adjacent lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm, through November 1, 2024, to facilitate electrical repairs.

Belt Parkway between Exit 21B and Exit 20

Single-lane westbound will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10 am to 2 pm and 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 10 pm to 6 am next morning, and Saturday from 10 pm to 11 am next morning. Double-lane westbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 6 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 9 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate JFK Redevelopment Program and will continue through December 31, 2025.

Belt Parkway in the vicinity of the Springfield Boulevard Bridge overpass

Single-lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning and double-lane will be closed from 1 am to 5 am through June 14, 2024, to facilitate Springfield Boulevard Bridge rehabilitation. One lane in each direction will be maintained.

Belt Shore Parkway near 130 Street

Single-lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am. Single-lane eastbound will be closed Saturday from 1 am to 7 am and Sunday from 2 am to 8 am. Single-lane westbound will be closed Saturday from 1 am to 6 am and Sunday from 2 am to 9 am. During westbound closure, single-lane on the westbound entrance ramp at 135 Street will also be closed. These closures are necessary to facilitate rehabilitation of 130 Street Bridge and will continue through June 30, 2024.

Clearview Expressway between Throgs Neck Bridge and 500 feet south of Grand Central Parkway

Shoulder and adjacent lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Friday from 9 am to 3 pm, through November 1, 2024, to facilitate electrical repairs.

Cross Island Parkway (entire length)

Shoulder and adjacent lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm, through November 1, 2024, to facilitate electrical repairs.

Francis Lewis Boulevard Bridge over Belt System Laurelton Parkway

Single-lane in both directions on the bridge and west sidewalk will be closed Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm. One lane in each direction will be maintained. Single-lane in both directions on the Belt System Lauralton Parkway underpass will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning and double-lane will be closed from 1 am to 5 am. One lane in each direction will be maintained. These closures are necessary to facilitate Francis Lewis Boulevard bridge underdeck rehabilitation and will continue through June 28, 2024.

Grand Central Parkway between RFK Bridge and Nassau County Line

Shoulder and adjacent lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm on the eastbound and from 10 am to 3 pm on the westbound, through November 1, 2024, to facilitate electrical repairs.

Grand Central Parkway between Long Island Expressway and 62 Drive Pedestrian Bridge over Grand Central Parkway

Single-lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning and double-lane will be closed from 12:01 am to 5 am. Lane reduction from 18 feet to 11 feet wide will occur Monday to Friday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning on the eastbound Collector Distributor Road ramp from eastbound Grand Central Parkway to eastbound Long Islang Expressway. Lane reduction from 15 feet to 10 feet wide will occur Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5 am on the ramp from eastbound Grand Central Parkway to eastbound Long Island Expressway. These closures are necessary to facilitate flood mitigations and will continue through June 30, 2024.

Grand Central Parkway between Union Turnpike and Commonwealth Boulevard

Single-lane Grand Central Parkway eastbound will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10 am to 2 pm and 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 10 am to 2 pm and from 11 pm to 7 am next morning, and Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm and 11 pm to 3 pm Sunday. Double-lane Grand Central Parkway eastbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 7 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 9 am. Single-lane Grand Central Parkway westbound will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 10 am to 3 pm and from 11 pm to 6 am next morning, and Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 3 pm Sunday. Double-lane Grand Central Parkway westbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 6 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 9 am. Single-lane in both directions on the Cross Island Parkway in the vicinity of the Grand Central Parkway interchange will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 10 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 6 am next morning, and Saturday from 10 pm to 11 am next morning. Double-lane in both directions on the Cross Island Parkway in the vicinity of the Grand Central Parkway interchange will be closed Monday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 6 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 9 am. Single or double-lane closures on the Cross Island Parkway northbound exit ramp to Grand Central Parkway westbound and Cross Island Parkway southbound exit ramp to Grand Central Parkway eastbound will also occur during these times. These closures are necessary to facilitate bridge rehabilitation and will continue through December 21, 2025.

Grand Central Parkway between 47 Street and Hazen Street

Single-lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning through June 30, 2024 to facilitate flood mitigation.

Hunters Point Avenue Bridge over Dutch Kills between 27 Street and 29 Street

Bridge will be reduced to one travel lane to accommodate alternating eastbound and westbound traffic, Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm, Saturday and Sunday from 7 am to 5 pm. These closures are necessary to facilitate paint removal and will continue through August 21, 2024.

Long Island Expressway between Van Wyck Expressway and Grand Central Parkway

Single-lane westbound on the mainline and service road will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning. Single-lane eastbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 11 pm to 6 am next morning. Ramp from eastbound service road to eastbound Grand Central Parkway will be closed Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5 am and motorists are advised to detour to next entrance ramp by 72 Road. These closures are necessary to facilitate flood mitigations and will continue through June 30, 2024.

Long Island Expressway between Queens Midtown Tunnel and Nassau County Line

Shoulder and adjacent lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm on the eastbound and from 10 am to 3 pm on the westbound, through November 1, 2024, to facilitate electrical repairs.

Long Island Expressway between Clearview Expressway and Springfield Boulevard

Single-lane eastbound mainline will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm, Monday to Thursday from 11 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 11 pm to 7 am next morning, and Saturday from 11 pm to 11 am next morning. Double-lane eastbound mainline will be closed Monday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 7 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 9 am. Single-lane westbound mainline will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm, Monday to Thursday from 11 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 10 pm to 6 am next morning, and Saturday from 10 pm to 11 am next morning. Double-lane westbound mainline will be closed Monday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 6 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 9 am. Single-lane of service road (Horace Harding Expressway) eastbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm, Monday to Thursday from 11 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 11 pm to 7 am next morning, and Saturday from 11 pm to 11 am next morning. Single-lane of service road (Horace Harding Expressway) westbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm, Monday to Thursday from 11 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 10 pm to 6 am next morning, and Saturday from 10 pm to 11 am next morning. These closures are to facilitate replacement of Oceania Street Bridge and will continue through September 30, 2024.

Long Island Expressway between Queens Midtown Tunnel and Maurice Avenue

Single-lane eastbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm and from 11 pm to 6 am next morning, Saturday from 12:01 am to 10 am, and Sunday from 12:01 am to 11 am and from 10 pm to 6 am next morning. Double-lane eastbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 1 am to 6 am, Saturday from 2 am to 8 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 8 am. Long Island Expressway between Maurice Avenue and College Point Boulevard

Double-lane eastbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 1 am to 6 am, Saturday from 2 am to 7 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 7 am. Nassau Expressway between Cross Bay Boulevard Entrance Ramp and Exit 2N

Single-lane eastbound will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10 am to 3 pm and 9 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 10 pm to 7 am next morning, and Saturday from 10 pm to 7 am next morning. Double-lane eastbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5 am, Saturday from 12:01 am to 7 am, and Sunday from 12:01 am to 7 am. Eastbound Exit Ramp 2S will be closed Monday to Thursday from 11 pm to 7 am next morning, Friday from 11 pm to 7 am next morning, and Saturday from 11 pm to 7 am next morning. These closures are necessary to facilitate JFK Redevelopment Program and will continue through December 31, 2025.

South Conduit Avenue Eastbound between Linden Boulevard and Cross Bay Boulevard Bridge

Single-lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 9 pm to 12 am and double-lane will be closed from 12:01 am to 5 am. Single-lane will be closed Saturday and Sunday from 12:01 am to 5 am and double-lane will be closed from 12:01 am to 7 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate lead paint removal on the Cross Bay Boulevard Bridge and will continue through June 30, 2024. At least one lane will be maintained at all times.

Van Wyck Expressway

Single-lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm, Monday to Thursday from 10 pm to 6 am, Friday from 11:59 pm to 8 am, Saturday from 11 pm to 10 am, and Sunday from 10 pm to 6 am. Double-lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Thursday from 11 pm to 4 am and Sunday from 1 am to 7 am. Double-lane will be closed Friday from 11 pm to 7 am for northbound and from 11 pm to 5 am for southbound. The exit and entrance ramps along the north and southbound of the expressway may also be closed. These closures are necessary to facilitate roadway widening and will continue through July 14, 2025.

Van Wyck Expressway between Northern Boulevard and Long Island Expressway

Double-lane in either direction will closed Saturday from 12:01 am to 6 am, Monday from 11:59 pm to 5 am next morning, and Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 11 pm to 5 am next morning, through June 11, 2024, to facilitate Roosevelt Avenue Bridge Rehabilitation. One lane in both directions will be maintained at all times.

Van Wyck Expressway between Long Island Expressway and Pedestrian Bridge over Van Wyck Expressway

Single-lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Friday from 11 pm to 5 am. Double-lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 6 am for southbound and from 12:01 am to 5:30 am for northbound. These closures are necessary to facilitate flood mitigations and will continue through June 30, 2024.

Van Wyck Expressway Viaduct Rehabilitation

Single-lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Saturday and Sunday from 1 am to 6 am. Double-lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday and Sunday from 2 am to 6 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate bridge rehabilitation and will continue through September 30, 2024.

LIC Waterfront 5K

The following streets will be closed for the LIC Waterfront 5K on Saturday June 1st, 2024 at the discretion of the NYPD in Queens.

Tompkins Avenue Bridge over Greenfield Avenue

Single-lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 7 am to 3:30 pm and from 10 pm to 6 am next morning, to facilitate bridge rehabilitation and will continue through June 17, 2024. Approximately eight to nine parking spaces will be eliminated. Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times.
