Tom Cronenwett was among the frequent faces on the reality documentary titled Dr. K’s Exotic Animal ER. The American TV show centered around the services of Dr. Susan Kelleher, the lead veterinarian. The facility offers emergency services to exotic animals; all these covered in a thrilling documentary. Of late, however, one of the show’s popular faces has been missing, leading many to ask, what happened to Tom on Dr. K?
The documentary is aired on Nat Geo Wild and is among the most entertaining reality shows. Its first episode was aired in October 2014 and has managed to amass a massive following ever since. Currently, at its eighth season, the program has achieved great success. But as expected, it has its fair share of controversies.

It is common to find new characters joining a particular show and others leaving at the same time. However, the show almost reached the cancellation level once after several former Dr. K Exotic Animal ER staff came up with several allegations against the project. One departure that was the least expected was that of a veterinary technician, Tom Cronenwett.
What happened to Tom on Dr. K?
Many fans were shocked by the renowned vet’s departure from the series. He had been around for quite some time and had never shown any signs that he would exit soon. He had recently left the hospital, and on the 16th of June, 2018 Tom vented his feelings via a post on his Facebook page.

The TV star noted that the new place had a management team, and was a better working environment without a dictator vet.
From the rant, it seemed that Tom was quite displeased with the program’s management; and even went ahead to address Dr. K indirectly.
But why did Tom Cronenwett leave Dr. K?
Interestingly, Tom had never hinted that he had a short time left on the show. In the post, he never mentioned any names, probably due to legal reasons. But from the tone, it was evident that this was a good riddance message. It is not clear why did Tom Cronenwett leave Dr. K, but he definitely had a rough time at the hospital.

It also seems it was not only Tom who was unhappy with his workplace. Another character in the series who’s also a vet, Dr. Lauren Thielen, also left the show and moved to Texas and established her practice called the Texas Avian and Exotic Hospital.

Tom Cronenwett is not on Dr. K Exotic Animal ER, but from his post, he seems to enjoy his new work environment. He even went ahead to brag about the new station in Austin, Texas, by geo-tagging his current location. Tom currently holds the veterinary assistant and technician positions at Westgate Pet & Bird Hospital.
The facility was established in 1986 by Paul Brandt DVM. He is the medical director and proprietor of the hospital.
Cronenwett’s biography
Tom was born and raised in the Dearborn Height community of Michigan. He, later on, moved to Houston Heights. The vet is an alumnus of the Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology (Denver, Colorado). It was here that the former TV star earned his Associate of Applied Sciences in Veterinary Technology. Between 2010 and 2014, he was a Vet Technician at Vergi 24/7, before joining Dr. K.
