Who Makes Dayton Fans

Dayton® Fans has been a leading manufacturer of high-quality fans and blowers for over 90 years. Our company was founded in 1923 by John Smith in Dayton, Ohio. Since then, we have grown into one of the most recognized and trusted names in the HVAC and exhaust fan industry.

At Dayton®, we believe that a quality industrial fan is the heart of any ventilation, cooling, drying, pneumatic conveying or exhaust system. That is why we manufacture our fans to the highest standards, using premium materials and components. All our products are engineered for performance, reliability and durability even in the most demanding conditions.

Our History and Heritage

Dayton® Fans has a long and storied history. Our founder, John Smith, was an entrepreneur with a vision to build fans and blowers that set the benchmark for quality in the industry. In the early days, our factory in Dayton, Ohio manufactured a range of industrial fans including centrifugal fans, tubeaxial fans, vaneaxial fans, propeller fans and squirrel cage blowers.

In the 1950s, we expanded our facilities significantly to ramp up production capacity. By the 1960s, Dayton® had grown to become one of the largest fan manufacturers in the Midwest. Our engineer workforce grew rapidly as we focused heavily on research and development. Numerous patents were filed as our engineers pioneered new fan designs and technologies.

Over the decades, countless customers from agriculture, air handling, ventilation, pneumatic conveying, pollution control and other industries came to rely upon Dayton® quality. By the 1990s, our catalog included over 200 types of fans and over 20,000 accessories and components. Today, we offer one of the most comprehensive industrial fan lines in the industry.

Our Facilities

Dayton® Fans operates one of the most advanced fan manufacturing facilities in North America. Our main 300,000 sq ft plant is located in Moraine, Ohio just outside Dayton. This ISO 9001 certified factory houses machining centers, stamping presses, CNC tube benders, laser cutters, powder coating systems and robotic welders.

We also have dedicated lines for airfoil blade fabrication and aluminum die casting. Supporting our main factory are on-site design labs, testing chambers and a metallurgy center. Our capabilities allow us to cast, fabricate, machine, assemble and test some of the most complex fans all under one roof.

Engineering Expertise

At Dayton® Fans, we have built an exceptional engineering team over the past century. Our engineers have decades of experience designing reliable ventilation fans for industrial use. We also partner with research institutions and expert consultants to remain at the forefront of fan system technology.

In our R&D labs, we use computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and 3D modeling software to optimize new fan designs. We verify performance through rigorous physical testing. This blend of numerical simulation and real-world verification results in fans precisely engineered for the customer’s requirements. We can customize designs to handle harsh particulates, high temperatures, heavy loads and more.

Craftsmanship & Quality Control

Dayton® takes great pride in the craftsmanship put into manufacturing each and every fan. We use advanced CNC machining, robotic welding systems and other automation to maintain extremely high quality standards. Critical processes are constantly monitored by our quality team.

All raw materials and fan components are inspected to ensure conformance to specifications. Our factories are equipped with coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), accelerometers, precision scales and other standards laboratory equipment. During assembly, key dimensions and tolerances are checked. All completed fans undergo a battery of tests before shipping. This rigorous quality control ensures every Dayton® Fans product meets our exacting standards.

Our Product Range

With one of the most extensive product lines in the industry, Dayton® offers the right industrial fan for virtually any application:

  • Centrifugal fans – Our backward-inclined, airfoil, forward-curved and radial blade centrifugal fans offer high airflow and pressure for ventilation, cooling, fume removal and pneumatic conveying.
  • Tubeaxial & vaneaxial fans – Available in sizes from 6 to 96 inches, our tubeaxial and vaneaxial fans deliver high volumes of air movement for large commercial and industrial spaces.
  • Propeller fans – We manufacture heavy-duty belt drive and direct drive propeller fans for air circulation, exhausting and cooling.
  • Blowers – Our utility blowers, chip blowers and air amplifiers arebuilt for conveying, exhausting and air movement in industrial processes.
  • Wall & ceiling exhaust fans – Ranging from 10 to 30 inches, these direct drive propeller fans efficiently remove airborne contaminants.
  • Duct fans – Our duct propeller fans and housed centrifugal blowers mount inline to ductwork to ventilate indoor spaces.
  • Laboratory & fume hood fans – Specialized blowers for exhausting fumes, gases and particulate matter from labs, pharmaceutical production and other critical environments.
