Who Did Kennedy Holmes Pick As Her Coach

The two-part Season 15 finale of NBC’s reality TV series “The Voice,” will take place on Monday, December 17 and Tuesday, December 18. One of the four artists vying for the title is the 14-year old pop singer from St. Louis, Missouri, Kennedy Holmes. If Kennedy prevails, she will become the youngest winner ever and the first for coach Jennifer Hudson. Standing in her way are Kirk Jay (Team Blake Shelton), Chevel Shepherd (Team Kelly Clarkson) and Chris Kroeze (Team Blake).

Kennedy began her journey with a blind audition of “Turning Tables” which earned her a four-chair turn from all of the coaches. Although she was a bit star-struck by all of them, she was especially smitten by Jennifer, who has always been an inspiration to her. That made joining Team J-Hud an easy choice.

Kennedy’s bubbly personality and powerful voice made her an instant front-runner to take the crown. In the Battles she defeated Lela following their aptly titled duet, “Battlefield.” She followed that up with an impressive win over Anthony Arya in the Knockouts singing “What About Us.” In the Live Playoffs, Kennedy earned a place in the Top 13 when the public voted her through following her performance of “Halo.”

The teenager continued to wow viewers with a restrained, yet powerful performance of “Wind Beneath My Wings,” which charted at #81 on iTunes. Then, was her Top 11 performance of “Greatest Love of All” that proved Kennedy was a young diva-in-training. The powerful rendition placed her at #8 on iTunes, making it her first Top 10 single.

Kennedy showed off her versatility as an entertainer once she reached the Top 10. With a fully choreographed dance number, Kennedy wowed viewers with her performance of “Me Too,” but only reached #43 on the iTunes chart. The following week, Kennedy returned with a blistering performance of “This is Me,” which brought her all the way back up to #13 on iTunes. Despite the success, Kennedy was left vulnerable, and was forced to sing for the final Instant Save to reach the finale. She successfully accomplished that mission, defeating her teammate MaKenzie Thomas and Team Adam Levine‘s Reagan Strange with her performance of “How Do I Live.”

Kennedy may have had to win the Instant Save to make it to the finale, but don’t count the youngster out just yet. Her undeniable stage presence and charismatic personality give her all the tools she needs to nail her final performances and have America eating from the palm of her hand. No other artist can put together a dance number like she can, and her coach Jennifer should certainly utilize that ability in the finale. Her versatility, likability and powerful voice will keep her in the running. Also working in her favor is the fact that the other three finalists are all country singers. If Chevel, Chris and Kirk manage to split their votes among the country music fan base, that may be all Kennedy needs to squeeze out a victory.
