Why Did Scheana And Rob Break Up

It’s all happening!

Five years after their breakup, Robert Parks-Valletta appeared on the December 23 episode of ex-girlfriend Scheana Shay’s podcast, Scheananigans with Scheana Shay.

The exes, whose relationship was a major part of Vanderpump Rules Season 6, chatted about their past romantic connection, why they split, where things stand between them now, and how the relationship changed them both as people. Plus, Rob gave listeners an update on what he’s doing today and how he really reacted when he met Scheana’s now-husband, Brock Davies.

Robert Valletta reflected on his relationship (and breakup) with Scheana Shay

As they discussed on the podcast, Scheana and Rob first dated about 15 years ago. Rob shared on Scheananigans that Scheana was actually the “very first and only girl up until that point” who had ever rejected his date offer. After their initial split, they each felt like there was “unfinished business” between them. The twosome remained friends over the years, and they reconnected in 2017 following the Vanderpump Rules cast member’s divorce from Mike Shay.

Rob then appeared on Season 6 of Vanderpump Rules, when he famously hung a TV in seven minutes (though he said on the podcast that he can actually do the task in six minutes), invited the cast to his cabin in Big Bear, showcased his boat driving skills, and talked about having a daughter named Madison Marie Parks-Valletta.

The couple parted ways for the second and final time in the fall of 2017, and Scheana subsequently moved to Las Vegas to appear onstage in Sex Tips for Straight Women from a Gay Man. Five years after he initiated the breakup, Rob reflected on the demise of the relationship on the podcast.

“I just didn’t do the work. You’re dealing with someone who was immature emotionally, immature communication-wise, [and] immature as a man,” Rob said about his actions in 2017.

Rob said he has now done a lot of work on himself, including going to therapy, and he can now recognize some of the mistakes he made.

“I can’t look back and change anything, I can just move forward and say, ‘OK, hey, like expect better,’” he added.

Scheana said the split was very difficult for her at the time, but it was the reason she ended up auditioning for that stage show in Las Vegas.

“I am very thankful to our time together, but also how abruptly and hurtful[ly] it ended, because, at the time, I was broken. You knew this. It forced me to move to another state,” Scheana said, referring to her show in Nevada. “That job, to this day, is still one of the best things I’ve done in my life. I never knew I wanted to get back onstage and perform… [It] was a dream I never could have imagined, and never would have happened had you not broken up with me the way you did.”

He thinks ex Scheana is an “awesome human,” and he revealed how he feels about Brock

Though the exes acknowledged that their split was messy, they’ve been able to repair their friendship in the years that followed.

“You’re an awesome human,” Rob told his ex about why he decided to appear on the podcast. “I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t think you were an awesome human.”

Rob also had nothing but positive things to say about meeting Scheana’s husband, Brock, at a rap concert in San Diego. He noted that it was “weird” at first for him to see his ex with someone new, but he said he “got it, instantly.”

“I understood your two energies are two giant flames going full steam ahead,” he said, before recalling what he told the loved ones he was with that night: “‘That’s it, she’s good. That’s perfect for her.’”

Rob shared an update on what he’s doing now in his life and career

After Rob and Scheana discussed their past, they looked toward the future. Rob opened up about his role as a producer and host on six travel shows for The Destination Channel, as the author of the 2021 handbook Making “IT” in 2021, and as the CEO of Making It Media.

Rob plans to open an office for his media company in Dallas in January 2023, and he told Scheana he’s “most likely moving” to the Texas city himself.

“I think I have a very clear vision of what I want, and I’m going after it,” he concluded.
