A Journey to the Bench
Justice Codrington’s path to the bench started with her appointment to the Riverside Superior Court in 2007. Throughout her career, Justice Codrington has held various positions in the legal profession. She worked as an associate at Burke, Robinson & Pearman and later became an associate and partner at Mallory and Brown-Curtis. Additionally, she served as the Director of Litigation at the Western Law Center for Disability Rights (now Disability Rights Legal Center). Her extensive experience also includes roles as an adjunct professor of law at Loyola Law School, Deputy City Attorney with the Office of the Los Angeles City Attorney, and Associate General Counsel with the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Active Involvement in Bar Associations
Justice Codrington remains actively involved in several bar associations, showcasing her dedication to the legal community. She has served as President of the Black Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, Inc., and she is a life member of the California Association of Black Lawyers and the John M. Langston Bar Association of Los Angeles. As an ex officio member, she contributes to the Riverside County Bar Association, San Bernardino County Bar Association, and the Richard T. Fields Bar Association. Justice Codrington’s commitment to fostering legal excellence is evident through her role as Judicial Master and President of the Leo A. Deegan Inn of Court.

Born in Los Angeles, Justice Codrington proudly represents her Belizean heritage. She is married, has one son, four stepchildren, and several grandchildren. She obtained her Juris Doctorate degree from Loyola Law School and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.
