Bill Wixey Biography

Bill Wixey is an Emmy-Award-winning American journalist who works as a news anchor at KCPQ-TV 13. He also hosts “Q13 News This Morning” weekdays from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wixey began his career in Seattle in 1998. He was raised in the Seattle area. Bill graduated from Kirkland’s Lake Washington High School. Later, he enrolled at Washington State University’s Edward R. Murrow School of Communication.

Bill has reported on major news events around the world. He reported from South Asia shortly after the tsunami of 2005. He also covered the devastation caused by the earthquake in Haiti, as well as the Olympic Games in Beijing, Vancouver, and London.

Wixey has received two Emmy awards for his work as an anchor and reporter. He obtained an Emmy in 2003 for his outstanding work as an anchor. He also won an Emmy in 2010 for his documentary “Bill’s Journey,” which chronicled his successful battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Furthermore, in 2009, Bill was named Western Washington Man of the Year in the “Best of Western Washington” competition. He won awards for his 2005 documentary “Mission of Hope,” in which he traveled to Sri Lanka shortly after the devastating tsunami to document the recovery efforts.

Wixey was a principal anchor at Fox Sports Net before joining FOX 13 FOX, where he covered the Mariners during their incredible 116-win season in 2001. Prior to that, he worked for KIRO-TV in Seattle as a sports anchor and reporter.

While working in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Bill covered two Super Bowls for the Packers. During his time in Fort Smith, Arkansas, he covered two Final Fours for the Arkansas Razorbacks. In 1991, he began his broadcasting career in Great Falls, Montana.
