The controversial aspect of this dynamic lies in the fact that Keiya has taken on a paternal role in Isaku’s life. There are flashbacks that depict their family dynamic, which can make some readers uncomfortable. Unlike similar stories where there is an age gap between romantic leads, this plot point borders on being incestuous and has elements of grooming. As the story progresses, Keiya’s obsession with Isaku becomes increasingly apparent, bordering on yandere territory.

Despite these problematic aspects, it is understandable why teenage girls are drawn to this series. The allure of a handsome and dangerous man who is obsessed with a cute and innocent young girl is a common trope in romance. The idea of softening a powerful and dangerous character can be intoxicating and often sells a lot of books. Many authors, such as Colleen Hoover and Sarah J. Maas, have built successful careers based on similar dynamics. Even shojo mangaka before this series, like Vampire Knight, have used this theme.
While I personally find this manga problematic, I believe it still has its place. However, it is crucial to have open conversations with teenagers who are reading or watching this series. It is important to address the controversial elements and discuss them in a responsible manner. In terms of age relevance, I would recommend this series for high school students, as it has become increasingly spicy in recent volumes. Currently, it is not in my school library, but I am open to acquiring it if students request it. I anticipate an increase in demand, particularly with the announcement of the anime adaptation, which has been generating significant attention on social media.
