“I’m not sure I’m the good girl I once thought I was. I’ve lost her along the way.” – Holly Jackson, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder
Are you a fan of mysteries and thrillers? Do you enjoy diving into closed or unresolved cases? If so, then A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is a must-read for you. This book has been on my TBR list for some time, and after seeing a compelling review on Instagram, I couldn’t resist picking it up.

Luckily, I found the audio version of this book on my Storytel subscription app, and to my delight, it was narrated by a talented cast. There’s something about a full cast narration that brings a story to life and captivates the listener. And in this case, the entire cast did justice to the story and its characters.
The Synopsis of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder
Five years ago, Andie Bell, a school girl, was murdered by her boyfriend, Sal Singh. This tragic event devastated the small town, leaving everyone, except Pippa Fitz-Amobi, convinced of Sal’s guilt. Pippa, having known Sal since childhood, believes there is more to the story.

To uncover the truth, Pippa chooses this case as her final year project. As she delves deeper into the investigation, she uncovers hidden secrets that the townspeople would prefer to keep buried. But as Pippa gets closer to the truth, her own life becomes endangered. Someone or something is out to stop her.
My Impressions
OMG! A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is a brilliant book, and the narration is simply on point. The writing is fast-paced and gripping, with enough twists and turns to keep me hooked until the very end. Unlike many thrillers that fizzle out in the climax, this book delivers a clever and satisfying final twist.
With each chapter, new revelations come to light, murky secrets are uncovered, and suspicions shift from one person to another. I loved the meticulous step-by-step approach to solving the case, rechecking facts, and finding loopholes in the investigation.
The main character, Pippa, is the perfect detective/investigative journalist-in-the-making. She’s strong, clear-headed, fearless, curious, and determined. Most importantly, she has the courage to confront those who lie and manipulate in the pursuit of justice.

“If you catch someone lying about a murdered girl, you go ask them why.”
While the paperback version of the book is great, I highly recommend listening to the audiobook. The narrators did a phenomenal job, not only with dialogue and regular narration but also with the real audio phone calls and the vlog entries interspersed throughout the story. If I could, I would give an extra star for the exceptional narration.
In Conclusion
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is a YA mystery/thriller that should not be missed under any circumstances. It has all the elements to make for a fantastic TV movie or series adaptation, akin to the likes of “13 Reasons Why.”
As for me, I can’t wait to dive into the next two books in the series – Good Girl, Bad Blood, and As Good As Dead. If you’re as excited as I am, click the link below to get your copy of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder.
