Is Tokio A Girl?

In the captivating world of Heavenly Delusion, a young orphan named Maru embarks on a quest to find Tokio, an individual who bears an uncanny resemblance to him. But the burning question remains: are Maru and Tokio somehow connected?

Spoiler Warning: This article contains spoilers from the Heavenly Delusion manga.

Where Did Maru Come From?

Maru’s origins are veiled in secrecy. He was found in an orphanage, devoid of any memory of his past, his parents, or his identity. He believes he was abandoned in post-apocalyptic Japan, a grim world teeming with man-eating creatures.

Everything changes when a mysterious woman locates him and brings him to Kiruko before meeting her unfortunate demise. Since then, Maru has been living with Kiruko, driven by a singular purpose: to uncover the truth behind the Man-Eaters and the existence of Heaven, alongside the person who shares his face.

Amidst his tender years, Maru possesses astonishing combat skills, being able to vanquish the Man-Eaters, a feat no one else has achieved. His unique ability, Maru-Sense, enables him to enter the monster’s body and obliterate its core.

Where Did Tokio Come From?

Like Maru, Tokio’s origins are shrouded in enigma. However, there are indications that her birth is linked to the Takahara Academy’s female founders, who impregnated themselves with the sperm of carefully selected males. These founders, fervent feminists disdaining male dominance, need to nurture children who will carry forward their legacy.

Tokio, an ordinary girl residing in one of Takahara Academy’s facilities, had a serene existence revolving around school and friends. That is until her feelings for her friend Kona intensified, culminating in a profound emotional connection and the exploration of their sexuality. As a result, Tokio became pregnant and gave birth to a healthy child.

When confronted by the director, Tokio’s reflexive response was to petrify herself and her baby, shielding them from the director’s nefarious experiments. The dilemma lies in determining whether Tokio protected her real child or a clone. Tokio’s whereabouts remain unknown, with her final appearance preceding a devastating earthquake that struck the facility.

Are Maru and Tokio Related?

Although the nature of their connection remains uncertain, Maru and Tokio’s destinies are inexplicably intertwined. In order to unveil the numerous enigmas plaguing their world, including the calamity, the man-eaters, and the existence of heaven, Maru must locate Tokio.

The Heavenly Delusion manga is a work in progress, and our burning questions remain unanswered. Consequently, determining the bond between Maru and Tokio is an arduous task. However, as the plot unfolds, their paths are destined to converge.

Maru and Kiruko have encountered some children who escaped the same facility where Tokio was once present. This implies that Maru and Tokio exist within the same timeline, breathing the same air. The theory that they inhabit different universes or times is proving to be unfounded.

It is only a matter of time before Maru finds Tokio, whether she is alive or not, and whether she is still accompanied by Kona and their child.
