A Convenient Stop
Last Tuesday morning, as I planned to visit Bill Cozbi’s Auto Body Shop from another famous film, “Bridesmaids,” I received a suggestion from Mike, a trusted movie location expert. He recommended making a quick detour to the residence of Justine and Phil Last. Intrigued by the proximity between the two sites and the allure of a Starbucks along the way, I couldn’t resist the opportunity.
A Familiar Neighborhood

Mike, who resides not far from Santa Clarita, discovered the house back in 2001 during the production of “The Good Girl.” Although I hadn’t encountered this location previously, the filmmakers extensively used Justine and Phil’s home throughout the movie. However, as you can see in the images provided, the residence has undergone a few changes since its appearance onscreen. The front door has been replaced, a stone façade and a new garage door added, and the wood paneling removed from the garage. Despite these alterations, the house remains recognizable to fans of the film.
A Successful Location Scouting
According to the production notes for “The Good Girl,” finding suitable locations in sunny California to replicate the small-town Texas setting was a challenge. The search for Justine and Phil’s house, in particular, proved painstaking. The script described their residence as the last house on a street stretching into miles of barren land. The location managers managed to find this unique property in the Santa Clarita area, complete with flat streets, telephone poles, and a rural ambiance that doesn’t resemble an ordinary Los Angeles neighborhood. Kudos to them for their meticulous efforts!
An Insight into the Real-Life House
In real life, Justine’s house, constructed in 1961, features three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and spans 1,125 square feet. Nestled on a 0.16-acre plot of land, it’s a cozy yet distinct abode that captivated moviegoers.
On-Screen vs. Real-Life Interiors

While I initially assumed the interior of the house was used in the film, it seems that wasn’t the case upon closer examination. A look at the old real estate listing reveals that although the living room closely resembles its onscreen counterpart, the kitchen differs significantly. Even though the listing mentions recent remodeling, the dissimilarity between the kitchen in real life and in the movie is apparent.
