How do I break-in my new glove?
There are several methods to break-in your new glove. Time is the key to breaking in your glove. Typically, the better the leather, the longer it will take to break-in. Please see our Breaking In A Glove section for more information.

What size glove should I get?
Usually, infielders are going to use smaller, more controllable gloves because their reaction time needs to be quicker than that of an outfielder. Infield gloves are also smaller so the fielder can get the ball out of it faster to throw out runners. Outfield gloves are usually larger with a deeper pocket because they are running down and chasing fly balls and having a larger mitt helps improve their reach. See Sizing a Glove.
Can I get my name or number embroidered on the glove I order?
We do not offer embroidery services on the individual gloves available to purchase from our site and ship from our warehouse. However, you can embroider your name on a custom glove purchased through our site (these customs are created by the manufacturer and shipped directly from the manufacturer’s warehouse).
What is the difference between left-hand thrower and right-hand thrower?
Right hand throwers will put the glove on their left hand so that they can throw with the right hand. Left hand throwers will put the glove on their right hand so that they can throw with their left. Left hand throwers are more rare.
How long does it take to break in a glove?
As a general rule, the better the leather, the longer it will take to break-in the glove.
Can I make a custom glove?
Of course. In fact, we offer custom glove builders from some of the best glove makers today:
- Mizuno Custom Glove Builder
- Rawlings Custom Glove Builder

Some of the gloves seen on our site will be nearly the same as the gloves that Major League Baseball players use. In fact, we feature an entire section of Rawlings Professional Gloves and Wilson Professional Gloves. These are gloves that are inspired by the preferences of professional baseball and softball players.
What if the glove I order doesn’t fit right?
We understand that a glove is something that can be difficult to purchase when you can’t try it on beforehand. If your glove doesn’t feel right and it hasn’t been used with baseballs, it can be sent back for a refund. We process all returns the same day we receive them. If you have a glove that meets the prior condition, please visit our Returns Page to begin the return process!
I can’t decide between two/three different gloves, what should I do?
All gloves can be purchased with our Glove Assurance Program. If you purchase Glove Assurance with a glove, you’ll get 100 days to try the glove in practice and games. If you decide within 100 days that the glove is not the one for you, you can send it back for a refund. If you were wanting to try out two/three different gloves in practice and game situations, please make sure that you order Glove Assurance for each one.
What is the best way to return a glove?
The best way to get started with a return is to visit the JustGloves Returns Page. Unused gloves (or used ones under our Glove Assurance Program) can be returned for a full refund using a free UPS shipping label generated from the Returns Page.
Do I need to call and get an RMA number to return an item?
No, you do not need to call for an RA number. Just visit our Returns Page and you’ll be able to print off a free UPS shipping label to send your item to us. The shipping label will have the original order number on it and our returns team will be able to track it once it is received. Please note that unused gloves (or used ones under our Glove Assurance Program) can be returned for a full refund.
Do you have or can you get a particular old glove?
If you are looking for a particular glove that you had when you were younger or a glove that is 2-3 years old and you don’t see it on our site, it is probably not made anymore and we are unable to stock it. To get more information on the older glove you are looking for, you can call the manufacturer directly, and they can give you information on when production stopped and if they have any ideas on where you might find the glove you want. For a list of manufacturer’s phone numbers see our Vendors.
Can you get this glove in a different color or size?
If we do not have the color or the size of a particular model you are looking for, it may not be made. If it is made and we do not have it, we probably refrained from carrying it due to availability or sale purposes. If you see a different color of a particular model on a Major League Baseball field, then there is a good chance it could be custom made for that player and was not available to us.

The gloves considered to be soft gloves and game ready gloves will be the ones on our site that break in the fastest.
How is the size of a glove measured?
Fielders gloves and first base mitts are measured by starting at the top of the index finger of the glove, down the index finger, along the pocket and then out to the heal of the glove. Lay the paper tape measure across the palm of the glove, so that it folds across and into the indenture, down to the heel of the glove.
A catcher’s mitt is measured by circumference. You can take that same paper tape measure and run it along the outside edge of the mitt while the mitt is wide open. This will get you an approximate measurement of the mitt’s circumference.

How does glove oil help protect and break in a ball glove?
Glove oils and conditioners will help protect the glove because they will moisturize the leather and prevent it from drying out. Dried out leather will eventually crack and possibly make the glove unusable.
As well, oils and conditioners help with the break in process as they make the glove a little bit softer and easier to squeeze after they are applied. If you are using oil or conditioner to help break in a glove, be sure to play catch right after you add either product. The combo of oil or conditioner plus using the glove will help make the glove’s leather more pliable and the glove more easy to use!
