How Did Iron Man Get The Glove Dr Strange

WARNING: The following contains spoilers about the mid-credits scene in Avengers: Age of Ultron. But you’ve probably seen it already because, well, a lot of people have. If you haven’t, go ahead and do that right now and then come back. If you hit up the concession stand before the show, we recommend the Goobers. Yum.OK, all good? Let’s do this.Avengers: Infinity War is coming, so it’s apropos that the Infinity Gauntlet come strong, too. The cosmic supervillain Thanos showed up at the end of Age of Ultron to snag the mystical glove — and possibly the coolest, shiniest piece of handwear since Michael Jackson’s silver number — in an epically nerd-friendly mid-credits scene. When it’s all blinged out, the Infinity Gauntlet looks like this.

However, Thanos’ search for the six all-powerful Infinity Stones has not gone well so far in the Marvel movies. He sent Thor’s ne’er-do-well brother Loki an alien army to help him snag some in the first Avengers film, and the bad guys were thwarted by Iron Man and his gang. (Thanos did get a neat yet quick first appearance in the mid-credits sequence of the flick.) Then he appeared fully in Guardians of the Galaxy — voiced by Josh Brolin — as he sent Ronan the Accuser to snag a stone. Ronan doublecrossed him but was later thwarted by Star-Lord and his gang.See a recurring theme yet? So does Thanos. “Fine,” he rumbles at the end of the new Avengers. “I’ll do it myself.” Thus setting up the two-part Infinity War — with movies coming in 2018 and 2019 — where it’s safe to assume Thanos wants to mount those bad boys on his nify left glove and rule the galaxy.Whether or not Infinity War takes some plot points from the popular 1991 Marvel Comics series Infinity Gauntlet — where in an attempt to impress his love Death, Thanos tries to wipe out half the universe — his latest appearance puts even more of an emphasis on the Infinity Stones as Marvel moves into its cinematic “Phase 3.”We’ve seen four of the six already:

The Tesseract (Space Stone)

Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) investigates the Tesseract in "The Avengers."

Red Skull was messing around with the gem (housed in a cosmic cube) during World War II in Captain America: First Avenger, and it then came under the care of Loki later on. But instead of getting sent to Thanos, the Tesseract wound up somewhere in Asgard — so it could conceivably be an important aspect of Thor: Ragnarok (in theaters July 28, 2017).

The Aether (Reality Stone)

The strange reddish force possessed Jane Foster in Thor: The Dark World, with the villainous Malekith in hot pursuit. Everyone’s favorite big-bicepped thunder god defeated the bad guy and saved the girl, and the Aether was taken to the Collector. (His place blew up — we’ll get to that in a second — so there’s a question as to where it is now.)

The Orb (Power Stone)

Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) eyes the mysterious Orb in the original "Guardians of the Galaxy."

The primary MacGuffin of Guardians of the Galaxy, the Orb was found by Star-Lord on an abandoned world, taken to the Collector — where the stone’s case was opened and it destroyed his weird menagerie — and then nabbed by Ronan, who wanted to use it to annihilate the planet Xandar and the space cops of the Nova Corps. The Guardians foiled his efforts — ICYMI: Star-Lord ruled Ronan in an epic dance-off — and the rock’s safely in the care of the Xandarians for now. (At least probably until Guardians of the Galaxy 2 hits theaters May 5, 2017.)

Loki’s Scepter (Mind Stone)

The trickster’s was running around with a weapon that can mind-control folks (see: Hawkeye in Avengers) until he was defeated. The bright stone encased in the scepter was being utilized by the nefarious organization Hydra before the Avengers took it back, and it then played an integral role in powering up the evil Ultron. Thankfully, now it’s embedded in the forehead of the Vision, giving life to Scarlet Witch’s favorite android.

And two other missing stones

Marvel probably has until 2018 to introduce the rest of the gems — the Time Stone and the Soul Stone — and because of the source material, there’s a good chance one may show up on screen in Doctor Strange (Nov. 4, 2016), the Guardians sequel, Black Panther (July 6, 2018) or Captain Marvel (Nov. 2, 2018).

If you see them in the meantime, though, let Thanos know.
