The Polyco Touchstone Kevlar Cut and Heat Resistant Sleeve is knitted and intertwined with Kevlar aramid fibres, demonstrating its durability and cut-resistance and making it perfect for use around knives, blades and serrated edges. Kevlar is inherently strong for protecting against cuts, slashes and abrasion and is heat retardant. making it very practical for use in foundries, blacksmithing yards and welding shops where burn protection is a must have.

Protection Ratings and Safety Standards
EN 388
- EN 388: 2X4XC
EN 388 is a European regulation governing the sale of gloves used for safety and protection. It determines the gloves’ performance when used for protection against mechanical machinery by measuring the fabric’s abrasion, cut, tear and puncture resistance.
The EN 388 cut resistance test uses a single sharp implement to repeatedly pressure a glove in order to determine the amount of force required to cause visible and functional damage.

Contact Heat Resistance Rating

When you work with heated material, it’s vital you protect not only your hands, but your hands, wrists and arms too as one second of contact with incredibly hot material can cause serious burning and scolding. Designed to shield against accidental contact, the Polyco Touchstone Kevlar Cut and Heat Resistant Sleeve ensures the arm is protected against temperatures of up to a whopping 250°C.
INCREDIBLE KEVLAR PROTECTION
Kevlar is a synthetic material manufactured by DuPont. It is a tightly woven collection of aramid fibres, spun until the bond formed between them is too tight to separate. It is used in cut-resistant clothing and gloves because the lack of gaps between the fibres means a blade cannot easily pierce or puncture it.
Level C Cut Resistance
A level C cut resistance rating demonstrates that a fabric or garment can withstand up to 15 newtons of downward force applied by a sharp or pointed implement. This protection is the difference between a sharp object slicing straight through your hand, and the tip simply getting lodged in between the cut-resistant fibres that make up your sleeve.
Maximum Tear Resistance Rating
Unfortunately, wear and tear is all part of a days work. Tear resistance is vital if you want a sleeve that’s built to last.
A level 4 rating is the maximum available under the European safety standard EN 388, showing just how durable the Touchstone Sleeve is. Designed to withstand abrasions, scuffs, scratches and cuts, the Touchstone Sleeve is built to withstand a great deal of pressure before showing signs of breakage.
Optional Thumb Slot
The 14″, 18″ and 22″ variations of the Touchstone Sleeve come with a thumb slot for added stability and purchase. If you’re the slight bit concerned about slippage, falling away or fabric “run up”, we recommend selecting this option to keep your sleeve in place and prevent any accidental exposure of the arm whilst you’re working.
Washing Instructions
The Polyco Touchstone Kevlar Sleeve can be machine (do not exceed a 30°C cycle) or hand washed depending on preference. We recommend leaving it to dry naturally, however machine drying is possible if required.
