How Do You Become A Golden Glove Boxer

The Australasian Golden Gloves tournament is to be held in Perth at the end of July.

Details are as follows:-

It is our great pleasure and honor to extend to you this invitation to participate in “The 3rd Australasian Elite and Youth Golden Gloves 2018”.boxing tournament, which will be held from 26th – 28th July 2018 in Scarborough Western Australia.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS AND DEADLINES: Entry is a three-step process

1. Completion and return of entry form plus a digital passport photo ID to [email protected]

2. Completion and return of medical form and serology to [email protected] (Serology must include Hep B Antigen, Hep C, HIV). For those competing from overseas, your serology must be completed within Australia. (We can arrange this prior to the tournament you will need to give us at least 2 days notice) The fee is AUD$60.

3. Payment of fees, AUD$70 per Boxer, and AUD$70 per Coach by bank transfer:

The entry deadline is Friday 15Th July 2018

*Entry may only be confirmed by this date if all three steps are completed.

PARTICIPATION/DIVISIONS

To be capped at 8 boxers in each division.

Elite/Youth Male: 46-49kg, 49-52kg, 52-56kg, 56kg-60kg, 60-64kg, 64kg-69kg, 69-75kg, 75kg-81kg, 81-91kg, 91+kg

Youth Female: 45-48 kg, 48-51 kg, 51-54 kg, 54-57 kg, 57-60 kg, 60-64 kg, 64-69 kg, 69-75 kg, 75-81kg, 81+kg

BOXER ELIGIBILITY

This is a open tournament an Australian citizenship is not required to be eligible to enter the 3rd Australasian Golden Gloves Event.

The male boxer must have had a minimum of 5 bouts experience (excluding exhibitions).

The Youth male/female boxer must have had a minimum of 3 bouts experience (excluding exhibitions)

The divisions will be capped at 8 boxers in each divisi

ROUNDS

Elite Men: 3×3 minute rounds

Youth Men: 3×3 minute rounds

Youth Female: 3x3min rounds

AGE CATEGORIES

Elite:for a boxer aged 19 (1999) or 39 years (1979)

Youth: for a boxer aged 17 (1997) or 18 years (1998)

Age will be determined by the boxer’s year of birth.

All divisions for the Golden Gloves have 1 extra 1kg allowance at weigh in each day.

Weigh in will be at the venue/hotel. The Draw will be done 1 week prior to the event commencing.

The tournament will be held at the Rendezvous Grand Hotel, which has, accommodation attached. The rooms are AUD$129 twin share ($64.50 per person) and the bookings can be made direct with the Hotel just quote the promo name ‘GOLDENGLOVES”The venue is a 33 minute drive from the Airport. It is also short walk to the shops, eateries, restaurants and beaches.

FINANCIAL CONDITIONS

All national participating teams or individual boxers are responsible for their own travel, food, accommodation, participation fees and any other expenses that may occur.

All International Delegations are responsible for their own food, accommodation, participation fees and any other expenses that may occur.

International delegations will be given free transfer to and from Perth airport to the Rendezvous Grand Hotel.

TEAM IDENTIFICATION

-Australian delegations will be responsible for creating the Identification badges and providing the lanyards for their teams (athletes and delegation nominated only Coaches). A template will be provided. Please note team members will need to pay for entry into the venue if they are not wearing their Identification badge.

-International delegations will be supplied with identification to access the venue and field of play.

TEAM REGISTRATION

Each Member Association is to use the provided Online Registration system to register their teams by 26 June 2018.

TEAM ENTRY FEES

The Team entry fees are $70 per Athlete and $30 per Coach/manager

COACH NOMINATION RATIOS

Below is the ratio of Coaches and Team Managers that each delegation is allowed to nominate:

1 – 3 Boxers: 3 Coaches / 1 Team Manager

4 – 7 Boxers: 4 Coaches / 1 Team Manager

8 – 11 Boxers: 6 Coaches / 1 Team Manager

12 – 16 Boxers: 7 Coaches / 1 Team Manager

17 – 32 Boxers: 10 Coaches / 1 Team Manager

33 or more Boxers: 15 Coaches / 1 Team Manager / 1 Assistant Manager

Any coaches above these ratios will have to pay for entry.

BOXING EQUIPMENT

All bouts will be conducted with gloves supplied by Boxing Western Australia

Boxing Western Australia will have available head guards for boxers to wear.

In accordance with Boxing Western Australia’s Technical and Competition Regulations all Elite Male bouts will be conducted without wearing head guards.

All youth bouts will be conducted wearing head guards.

Boxers may wear their own head guard as long as it is AIBA approved and licensed. For 2018 AIBA approved and licensed equipment suppliers are Adidas, Sting, Taishan Sports, Top Ten, Wesing Sports, Greenhill, Velo and Garmy. Please note only 2016 dated Greenhill equipment will be accepted.

Bandages: All boxers shall wear AIBA approved bandages and the specifications will comply with BAL Technical and Competition Regulation Appendix 5.70-5.72. Boxers shall have no tape on the hand or bandage other than on top of the wrist to secure the bandage.

SCORING SYSTEM

The AIBA ’10 point Must System’ will be used.

REFEREES AND JUDGES

All Referees & Judges will be selected and appointed by Boxing Western Australia

DOCUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS

All Delegations must have submitted the following with their team entries by 15 July 2018:

• Serology report for every boxer following the wording requirements of WA Combat Sports (see attached) (online registration).

Entries are due to be submitted by 15 July 2018; entries can be accepted up to 20 July 2018 but will be considered late entries and will incur a late fee of $200 per entrant. No entries will be accepted after 20July 2018.

All boxers must bring to their first Medical Check and Weigh-In of the Australian Championships;

• Boxers Competition Record Book with:

(a) Annual Medical Examination marked:

(i) as undertaken

(ii) with the assessment he/she is ‘Fit to Box’ and

(iii) dated

(b) Serology report.

COACHES ACCREDITATIONCoaches certified by will be supplied with an accreditation pass bearing photo ID which must be worn into the Field of Play. No uncertified coaches will be allowed to enter the Field of Play.
