How To Clean Synthetic Leather Golf Glove

Many golfers have no sufficient awareness about the importance of cleaning and washing golf gloves. Over time, that bad habit will lead to the material of golf gloves decompose and worsen quickly. If you hope your golf gloves to last, caring for them starts on the green.

The best golf gloves are made of leather. Many companies manufacture synthetic gloves, but any serious golfer knows that when it comes to gloves, leather trumps synthetic by a wide margin. The porousness of leather gloves serves as ventilation for your hands, keeping them cool on those hot days on the course. At the meanwhile, the leather golf gloves also allow for a firmer grip.

However, too much moisture can break down a leather golf glove. But a worse thing is that salt could have a worse impact on leather glove. Because salt from sweat dehydrates the leather, breaking down the golf gloves at an alarming rate. That’s the reason why we never use our golf gloves to wipe sweat from our forehead, face, or arms.

Therefore, if you want your golf glove to last for a long time, please throw a microfiber towel in your bag for removing sweat in between rounds. Your gloves will last longer, as they are not designed to be drenched in sweat.

Whether you’re at a ball washing station or saving a ball from a water trap, you have better remove your golf glove first and perform the action with bare hand. Then, make your hand dry using a towel and go on your game with a dry hand in a dry golf glove because playing in a wet glove wears down both your hand and the glove through abrasion. Moreover, moisture softens both leather and the skin on your hands, possibly leading to a poor-fitting glove and painful blisters on your hand.

In addition, please be sure to not scrunch your golf gloves up and toss it in your pocket or bag after the end of game. You should carefully hang your glove on the exterior of your bag or hold your gloves as they dry off. Because leather golf gloves are actually damaged not only when sweaty but also when crumpled up.

Wash delicately with cold water and mild soap – avoid bleach. The sooner you can wash the gloves, the better. Gently wash your gloves to remove dirt, perspiration, and other buildup. Note: Most leather golf gloves are not washable.

If your gloves have dirt that simply cannot be washed away or have shrunk or cracked due to heat exposure, I advised to go ahead and purchase a new glove before your next trip to the golf course.
