Body Glove Performer 11′: A Convenient Raft for Fun in the Water

If you’re looking for a versatile paddleboard that is easy to inflate and paddle, then the Body Glove Performer 11′ is the one for you. With a width of 34 inches and a weight capacity of up to 320 pounds, this board is perfect for you, your child, your pet, or even your gear. Whether you’re a beginner or just want a board on hand for visitors, the Body Glove Performer 11′ will quickly get you out on the water.

Performance Comparison

Stability

The Body Glove Performer features a single, detachable center fin that is easy to attach using a simple clip system. It provides stable paddling experience on calm water, even with an extra rider or pet on board. However, in choppy conditions, the board tends to rock and roll. When facing boat waves, the board tends to ride up and over instead of cutting through.

Glide Performance

The included 3-piece paddle has a good shape, but it lacks the power to efficiently propel the board. The board feels thick and floaty while paddling, and testers noticed the drag despite the 4.5-inch nose rocker design. The single center fin helps reduce side-to-side shifting while paddling, but the board would benefit from the addition of two side fins to enhance glide performance and tracking.

Maneuverability

The Body Glove Performer, with its wider and longer design, requires more effort and time to turn compared to thinner, lighter boards. Its shape makes it evident that turning is not its strong suit. Even in calm conditions, it takes a few extra paddle strokes to change directions. While the deck pad provides a good grip, there is no dedicated footrest for step-back turns.

Ease of Use

The board, pump, and aluminum 3-piece paddle can be easily packed into the provided bag. Inflation with the electric pump takes approximately 10 minutes, which is average for a board of this size. The paddle pieces attach using metal pins. However, the board could benefit from additional handles, as it only has one center handle that doubles as a paddle holder. Carrying and lifting the 24-pound board would be easier with nose and tail handles or at least one side handle.

Construction Quality

To increase rigidity, the Body Glove Performer is constructed with triple-layer stringers and side rails. This board uses triple-layer PVC, a standard for entry-level boards, and is equipped with a rubber nose bumper to reduce the risk of damage. The included paddle is on the heavier side and may have some wiggle during use, so upgrading to a better-quality paddle is recommended if within your budget.

Should You Buy the Body Glove Performer 11′?

If you’re looking to get out on the water quickly and don’t necessarily need top-tier performance, the Body Glove Performer is a great option. It is reasonably priced as an entry-level board, readily available, and will provide enough performance for beginners to enjoy their local lake or pond. Although the board could be improved with the addition of two side fins, for casual use and new paddlers, it is more than satisfactory.

What Other Inflatable SUPs Should You Consider?

The Body Glove Performer is a hassle-free board that allows beginner paddlers and families to enjoy the water. However, if you are looking for better performance at a lower price point, the Funwater 11 is a great alternative. For those willing to invest a bit more, our favorite board, the Bote Breeze Aero, offers excellent performance across all tests and comes at a great price point.
