How To Make A Glove From A Sock

With just a few materials, you can make your own fingerless gloves. These will be your favorite winter accessory. Read on to find out how you can make your own. If you make a purchase using the links included, we may earn a commission.

I am one of those people. I am ALWAYS cold.

I am cold in the winter and bundle up in hoodies and fuzzy socks, and I’m cold in the summer because everywhere you go the AC is turned up so high.

Because of this, I have found something to help keep those chills at bay, fingerless gloves!

These gloves are amazing! I love that my fingers are free so I can wear them while typing at my computer (in fact, I’m wearing them now), I can still easily turn the pages of my favorite book, and I can pretty much wear them all day.

Supplies You’ll Need to Create this Project:

  • Women’s Knee High Socks
  • Scissors

Long Fingerless Gloves:

The first pair of gloves we are going to make are long fingerless gloves. These go high up your arm and the heel of the sock goes to your elbow.

Open up the socks and cut off the toes.

To measure where the thumb hole should be, place your hand on top of the sock where you want the edge to lay on your hands.

I wanted the edge to be just above the knuckles.

Cut a small slit where the bottom knuckle of your thumb is. You don’t need to cut a big hole because the fabric will stretch.

Use the first sock as your pattern and cut a slit in the second sleeve in the same place.

Try the sleeve on and it should fit perfectly. You’ll see how the slit stretches to the right size to fit your thumb.

Short Fingerless Gloves:

The next pair we are going to make are short fingerless gloves. We’ll use the same size socks but just cut them a different way.

Open up the socks and cut them off at the heel of the socks.

Same as above, measure where the thumb hole should be. Place your hand on top of the sock where you want the edge to lay on your hands.
