I saw a project on Pinterest where you can use a rubber glove as a mold to make a plaster hand. The link was in a foreign language, but the pictures were clear enough to understand. I just so happen to have a few pairs of rubber gloves for cleaning and crafting purposes and of course my Blinged Out Dish Gloves.
This project is pretty cut and dry and doesn’t need much of a tutorial, so let’s consider it inspiration. It’s quick, easy and quite functional. So, grab these supplies and a helping hand and get started..

Mix Plaster of Paris according to package directions. Have someone to hold the glove open while you pour. Be sure to work F.A.S.T, the plaster will harden very quickly. If you want to form any type of hand gesture you must do so quickly before the plaster starts to set to avoid cracking and breaking.

Once the plaster has hardened (10-15mins), use a sharp blade to remove the glove in order to allow the plaster to dry thoroughly.
Im no professional at this so I’m unsure of how to eliminate the bubbles. Let’s call it ‘character’, lol. You should be able to paint or embellish once the plaster becomes cool to the touch!
You can make a Plaster Hand to hold and display your jewelry, to create hand gestures for use as Spiritual or Comical accents, Candle Holders and even Halloween decorations. You could even make one and mount it as a key holder with the fingers spread apart. There are so many different ways you can get creative with this project.
I purchased a 8lb bag of Plaster of Paris for less than $6 and this is my second project so far. Im looking forward to experimenting with more projects until I’ve used the entire bag. I also created a Plaster Leaf Jewelry Holder with Romaine Lettuce if you’d like to check it out.
