How to Make Fingerless Mittens
This is a quick project, you can make a set of fingerless mittens in less than 15 minutes!

Step 1: Cut your Fleece Fabric
Cut one piece of fleece for each hand, so for a complete set of fleece mittens you will need two pieces of fleece.
For a large lady’s hand cut each piece 14 inches x10 inches.
You can adjust these measurements as needed to make them the right size for your hand.
Fold each of the fabric pieces right sides together so the short ends meet.
Sometimes it’s hard to tell the right side of fleece, but if you can tell fold it right sides together.
Step 2: Sew your Fingerless Mittens

Sew the short ends together using a straight stitch, with a generous 1/4 inch seam allowance.
See the video tutorial below if this isn’t making sense!
Turn the mittens right side out.
Fold each piece in half so the raw edges meet then take it to the sewing machine.
In order to make the hole for the thumb, start sewing at the top but stop around the 2-inch mark.
Alternatively, you can hold your hand on the fabric and see where you want your thumb to stick out.
Basically, you want to sew the top 2 inches, leave a hole for the thumb, then continue to sew to the bottom edge.

Make sure you backstitch 2-3 times at both the top and bottom of the thumb hole so it is well reinforced since you will be sticking your thumb in and out loads.
In most cases, a 2-inch gap is sufficient for the thumb hole, but you can make the thumb gap as small or large as you like.
You will have a raw edge along the opening for the thumb, but fleece doesn’t fray so it shouldn’t be a problem.
Repeat this same process for the second glove.
Turn your fingerless mittens inside out, stick your hand and your thumb through and you are done!
