Here is a shocker, there is not a limit on how much gets piled on you to test your faith, and it seems, in my case, it all comes in a short period of time. One would think losing a child would give you a reprieve on testing of other things for…I don’t know…a few months anways. At least let me get my feet back under me, before you knock me down again. Nope, that is NOT how it happens. It is like a one two punch. Obviously, losing Allison is as bad as it gets, but some of the stuff I go through is reliving it. Others, I toss my hands up and say ‘really? you are going to take this too?’

It is SO hard in times like this to stay grounded. I look back at all the blessings and suddenly I wonder if they really are/were blessings. Digging deeper. Heels in deeper. Breathing slower and more intentional, I remind myself – it is through the fire we are made into fine silver. This is only temporary. As much as I want to control, fix. I turn it over, and move on. This is the beautiful thing about faith, the bad times, no matter how bad, pass, and the good times come back. How we handle the bad times, I believe makes a difference in what the good times look like. Were we resilient in our faith. Standing strong, following the difficult path, if so, the good times might be better than for someone that crumbled under the pressure and gave up. The beautiful thing is our God is forgiving and always gives us more opportunities for growth! (this is said with a grimace, as lately my growth makes me question how much He actually needs me to grow, and what indeed does He have in store for me?).

Perhaps, my vision of God is atypical. I do think he has a sense of humor. No, not when he is causing grief and pain. But, there are times, and perhaps it is because my faith is strong, that I attribute many random unexplainable things to God. I have experienced this a few times this week, randomness, that I shake my head, and say OK God, I know you have things under control. I loosen my grip and turn my hands up.
