Michael Jordan captivated audiences like no other person could do in the basketball game’s history as far back as anyone can remember. He won six rings during his time and became the poster boy for the NBA. However, basketball is not the only thing Jordan loves. He is also a cigar aficionado on the side.
As odd as it sounds that an athlete as accomplished as Michael Jordan loves cigars, it is true, and he loves puffing more than one cigar a day. There is barely any feeling like lighting up a stogie after a major trophy win, and Jordan is not a stranger to that lifestyle. In one of ESPN’s Docuseries, Jordan was seen smoking a cigar.

1. Hoyo de Monterrey

The Hoyo de Monterrey Double Corona is a Cuban delight. This particular cigar was very popular in the 90s. In the interview, Michael Jordan mentioned that he would always smoke one in his car while driving to the Chicago Stadium. He would do this before every home game.
This cigar had a bad stint in the early 2000s, specifically in 2001 and 2002. It wasn’t the only Cuban cigar that dipped in reputation around this period. It was the entirety of Cuban cigars as a whole. There was an inconsistency in their quality.
Recently, this cigar has made a comeback, but its original flavor and taste have not. Recent productions have seen the cigar sport a charming combination of coffee notes, sweet spices, and a tinge of orange peel. This combination gives it a rich taste, but one that is not pronounced. They remain the perfect companion for whiling away on afternoons.
2. Cuban Partagas Lusitania

Cigar aficionado Jordan is not shy or modest about the number of cigars he smokes a day. He has stated many times that he smokes six cigars a day. One stogie seems to have the whole of Jordan’s heart, and that is the Partagas Lusitania. Jordan loves Cuban cigars more than any other type out there.
It is best enjoyed during a long game of golf or while you read a good book. It is a double corona that has to be enjoyed over time.
Bottom Line
Michael Jordan is a cigar aficionado, no doubt about it, and if you want to smoke like the king, then there should be some Cubans in your humidor. Suppose you are an oldie who abandoned any of the double corona variations in the 90s. In that case, you will enjoy them now but bear in mind that they are no longer as strong-tasting as they once were.
However, if it is good enough for arguably the greatest NBA player, then it should be good enough for you.
