With only 3 major accords, comes this heady white floral bouquet of jasmine, tuberose and rangoon creeper. I honestly never encountered rangoon creepers in perfumes, but it is said to be an aromatic flower that changes color from white to darkened pink and then eventually to red when it blooms. So, the choice of this particular flower is spot on.

I think by now, dear readers, you know about my undying infatuation with the coalition of jasmines and tuberoses. They’re my ultimate favorite floral combo, either melded into a fresh or dense concoction. For today’s guest of honor, this combo is presented in the freshest and most delightful form of zest.

The blend opened up primarily with super zesty and juicy citruses that didn’t linger for long anyway, then I started detecting sharp waves of jasmines with the bubbly and effervescent sweetness emitting from tuberose which made the whole blend light up instantly and it was just addictive!
After around 10 minutes, Bloom EDP steered a bit in the cologne-y direction, but in a way that’s not too masculine or offensive. Then, tuberose receded to make room for a jasmine solo. The famed white flower in all its grandiose was persistently and intensely giving off its best aroma as if it was just freshly picked and then you’re left with sweet trails of it on your fingertips. As the dry down phase gets nearer, I found that nothing much has changed. The concoction morphed into a mix of the famed white florals, but jasmine utterly gets the upper hand here.
On my skin, it gave off sweet nuances of the blend while on fabrics, it clearly took a sharper turn. To me, they’re both equally agreeable and exhilarating. This is a lively take on the famed white flowers. I salute master perfumer, Alberto Morillias, for this masterpiece. Bloom was and still is well-received by many people that it’s almost a cult favorite now. It was the start of 7 more renditions of this line, and they were all met with huge enthusiasm thanks to the one that started it all.
The name Gucci opted for is accurate and relevant; I was able to get a lively depiction of a vast garden that’s adorned with shyly blooming white flowers lined up on both sides, while the sun overlooks the whole scene as the garden fills up the air with an astounding aroma. Gucci’s Bloom screams spring, in my opinion.

In my opinion, one downside of Bloom is how it was presented to the public! I believe something this vibrant could have had a better depiction. For the square-shaped bottle is in an opaque porcelain, enveloped with powder pink lacquer and looks quite basic. This scent needed to be in a clear glass bottle with a lively color like white or yellow to convey the exact mood of the fragrance.
When it comes to the overall performance of the fragrance, I found it less than moderate. In summer’s sizzling heat, it projected for almost an hour with a sillage that was a little less than arms-length, and for longevity on skin, it did not exceed the 2 hours mark and started fading gradually, while on fabrics, it lasted up to 9 hours, give or take.
One of the many perks of this Gucci creation is that it suits all ages, literally! Anybody of any age or background would be able to enjoy it equally, and as the name ‘Bloom’ suggests, it would thrive more in springtime, however, it can go all year round because it is that versatile!
