What Does This Shipment Was Tendered To Fedex Express Mean

FedEx is a leading global mail and package delivery company that delivers millions of packages on a daily basis. Its reliable service has made it a frequently used delivery service utilized by many popular e-commerce platforms and businesses.

One of the statuses buyers will see during the initial shipping process is “This Shipment Was Tendered to FedEx Express”. This status means that the seller has handed the package over to FedEx and is now within its network.

In this article, we will discuss what this tracking status means, the different ways packages are tendered to FedEx, what happens once FedEx receives a package, and how long it will take you to receive your package once this status has appeared. Let’s jump right in!

What Does “This Shipment Was Tendered to FedEx Express” Mean?

If you see the “This Shipment Was Tendered to FedEx Express” status while tracking your parcel, it means FedEx has received your package from the sender. This status is usually followed by a mention of the date FedEx received it.

All major delivery service providers, including FedEx, typically indicate when the package was received by the shippers. This status also indicates that FedEx is dispatching your package through FedEx Express instead of FedEx Ground.

Orders sent via FedEx Express are handled and delivered using their own trucks and aircraft. This is not to be confused with FedEx Ground, which is a slower method of transportation, where packages are often transported using their independent contractors.

Once the packages are received from the shipper, FedEx will process your package and it will be transported within their own network before it’s delivered to your address.

How Packages Are Tendered to FedEx

Shippers can hand packages over to FedEx in one of two ways. The first method is to drop it off at one of their facilities and the second method involved scheduling for the package to be picked up from the shipper.

This step occurs once the sender has packaged the items and printed the FedEx shipping label. Below, you’ll find a more detailed explanation of the two options shippers have to tender their package to FedEx.

Option A: Dropping Off the Package

The first option the sender has is to drop off the package at one of FedEx’s facilities. This includes any of the following:

  • FedEx Office
  • FedEx Ship Center®
  • FedEx Authorized ShipCenter®
  • FedEx® Drop Box
  • Retail outlets
  • Grocery locations

After arriving at one of these locations, the sender will hand over the package to one of FedEx’s agents who will verify the package details and ensure that the labels are correct. The package will then be collected by a FedEx driver and consolidated in one of their warehouses before it makes its journey through the FedEx delivery network.

Option B: Scheduling a Pickup

Shippers can also opt to have FedEx pick up the package from their location. They can do this using FedEx’s online platform where they can indicate their preferred pickup date and time.

FedEx charges a small fee of around $4 to pick up packages from the sender and once the package is in FedEx’s possession, it will be processed and shipped to its final delivery location.

What Happens After FedEx Receives Your Package?

After receiving your package, FedEx will consolidate your shipment at a facility, before it’s sent to the nearest airport. If the package is destined for another country, it will then undergo export customs clearance before it’s loaded onto a cargo plane.

Following that, once an international package arrives in its destination country, it will undergo import customs clearance. Once it has cleared customs, the package will follow the same process as a local delivery whereby it is sent to a local distribution warehouse. The package will then be sorted and scheduled for delivery based on its final destination.

How Long Will It Take for Me to Receive My Package from Here On?

Once the shipper has tendered your package to FedEx, they are collected by the FedEx team on the same or the next day. Local shipments will take about 2 to 3 business days to arrive, whereas international shipments may take anywhere from 3 to 5 days after it’s been dispatched by the shipper.

As part of their commitment to quality service, FedEx will always provide the delivery date estimate on your parcel’s tracking page. This tracker will also tell you if your package is on its way as originally scheduled, or if it has been delayed.

You’ll be able to see the estimated time of delivery in the shipment status updates, similar to the image above.

Is There Anything I Can Do to Speed Up the Delivery at This Stage?

Generally, there is nothing you can do to speed up the delivery at this stage. This is because your package has been handed over to FedEx by the shipper and is currently being processed for shipping within the FedEx network.

Your order should proceed as per usual unless you receive an update stating that your package is experiencing a delay. If you learn about a delay in your parcel’s delivery, you can contact FedEx and inquire further.

You may also get in touch with the seller if the package is one that you have purchased on an e-Commerce platform. As delays can happen in the state or country of origin, the seller would be able to provide better updates on the issue and resolution progress.
