Neoprene is often associated with latex or used to coat cotton. Thanks to this, the neoprene gloves can also resist possible chemicals. Automotive, mechanical, chemical and industrial cleaning professionals are therefore the most suitable for these types of gloves. However, cooks can also wear these, as the neoprene allows food contact. Also, this material provides better comfort, flexibility and perfect dexterity to those who wear them.

Protective gloves against acetone: butyl or latex?

Butyl rubber is the main glove material with high resistance against acetone. Besides the latter, this material can also resist hydrochloric, hydrofluoric or any other concentrated mineral acid. Also, butyl rubber is a synthetic polymer offering good impermeability and damping quality. However, the price of butyl rubber gloves is a little higher compared to other models made with other materials.

Alternatively, protective gloves made of natural rubber, including latex, may be another option for hand protection against acetone. This material contains water coagulating in the air to develop a kind of elastic rubber. Both elastic and flexible, it can preserve great dexterity. Latex is also resistant to tears and cuts, but also to alcohol and water. However, it is highly allergenic. If you are allergic, it is recommended to opt for butyl or polyurethane or nitrile gloves. Indeed, latex is more intended for disposable gloves.
