What Happened To Ken Mains Son

The reason I decided to write this book is because I believe in doing the right thing. All too many times I see victims families not have any rights when it comes to cold cases. Law enforcement will tell them that they are still working the case and will not provide them with the opportunity to have a fresh set of eyes look at the case.

As a veteran of law enforcement, I understand that the reason we do this is to not jeopardize the case in any way. Yet, after a decade or two of no leads… wouldn’t it be wise to let someone else look at the case? This is the problem with cold cases in my opinion. It isn’t that the case is unsolvable… it is that other qualified individuals are not allowed to access the case because of ego.

No one wants someone to come to their place of employment and tell them they can do their job better. Not a janitor, not a teacher, not a CEO and certainly not a cop. So, it takes a very special person who can let their guard down a bit and think of the bigger picture. The bigger picture is to solve the case. Always has been and always will be. That is all that matters. It isn’t about getting your feelings hurt or being second best… it’s about being the voice for the victim that no longer has one.

So, that is the biggest reason I decided to write this book. However, at the same time I had to incorporate my background, my experiences that shaped and molded me in order for me to do the things I do. It is easy to quote statistics or spew ideology with out bearing your soul. I decided that the only way people would see why I am passionate about unsolved homicides and missing persons is to know where I came from and the trials and tribulations it took for me to be called the greatest detective in this country. I take great pride in people saying that about me. I take great pride that a major television network has asked me to solve the infamous Zodiac murders. I love the challenge, I love the responsibility and I love making a difference in someone’s life.

This book will show you that I am not a perfect person and certainly wasn’t a straight laced kid growing up. Yet I had a goal of being the best cold case detective in the world at a very young age. I veered off that road where my goal was located many times. But it wasn’t about how many times I veered off that road… it’s about how many times I got back on that road and finally succeeded. Trust me… if I could right my wrongs and curb my demons, you can do it too. Stay focused, stay inspired and you will succeed in life. That’s my message. That is why I wrote this book. It takes everything that has shaped and molded me in life—the passion, the determination and a touch of talent to be the best. Read Unsolved No More: A Cold Case Detective’s Fight for Justice and remember what your goal was in life…and then go attain it!
