In June 2011, a tragic incident unfolded in Hawthorne, Florida, where a former serviceman named William Hudnall met a brutal demise at the hands of his own teenage daughter, who used a pickaxe. At the time of the murder, Stephanie and her two daughters, Guenevere and Ruby Grace, were living in a mobile home in Keystone Heights, facing financial difficulties. William lived alone in his residence, while their son Joshua was stationed in Iraq, serving in the U.S. Army.
Detectives questioned Stephanie and Guenevere Hudnall extensively, leading to their confessions. According to reports, Stephanie took her 19-year-old daughter to William’s home on the night of the murder, and they spent hours chatting. Tragically, Guenevere used a pickaxe to repeatedly attack her sleeping father, causing fatal injuries.

Three days later, on June 12, 2011, both the mother and daughter were taken into custody. Guenevere claimed that Stephanie had masterminded the plan and persuaded her to commit the murder.
Joshua Hudnall revealed that his mother had made multiple attempts to kill his father in the past. She had poisoned him once and set their bed on fire while he slept on another occasion. He also disclosed that Stephanie had tried to stab him with a knife, prompting his decision to join the army to escape the dangerous environment.
Stephanie Hudnall was facing severe financial difficulties and believed that her husband’s death would allow them to access his social security benefits, which led her to make several attempts on his life. When she was unable to carry out these acts, she manipulated her daughter into committing the gruesome murder.
As for Ruby Grace Hudnall, her fate after her mother and sister were sentenced to 40 years in prison remains unknown.
