What Is A Postal Code For Ps4

Greetings, fellow citizens.

Over the last 03 months of my newly-wed PS4 journey, I’ve seen many people burning villages and ruining relationships for the sake of game regions. What is Region? Why does it matter? Can I play region 1 game to region 3? Can I download region 1 dlc to region 3 account? Can i play online with a region 2 account and a region 3 ps plus? what is region all? What? What? Whaaat?

Yes, we’ve all been there. I myself sometimes stumble upon this question, but had the patience to check them online and read about them to familiarize myself with the whole process. So, I’d take this opportunity to devote myself to the service of the community and save lives.

What is “Regional Codes” aka “Regions”?

DVD and Blu Ray discs contain Regional Codes which are used to prevent the playback of region coded discs outside the area they are made for. They did this as they wanted to control how their DVD and Blu Ray titles are exported to other countries. In most instances, discs manufactured in one region will play only on players that were manufactured for use in that same region. (More on – http://www.world-import.com/world_region_code_map.htm)

How to tell which Disc is of What region?

The Region Code is specified on the back of the individual DVD and Blu ray packaging and on the disc itself. It is shown with a globe that has a region number printed over it.

Which region Console should I buy?

Consoles are not region region restricted. So consoles of any region can support and run games/ ps plus/ accounts of any regions. Region 3 is the cheapest in the market, but their O = select/ X = back could be a bit annoying for someone who has been using controllers where X = select/ O = back (r1/2/4). Other than that, no difference.

Can I play one region game in another region account?

Yes you can. Games are not region locked. So if you get a game from Saudi Arabia (R2), and your console is from Malaysia, you can run your game with no issues. So relax.

Can I redeem one region DLC Codes using another region console/ account?

No you can’t. You have to have that particular account logged in your console. Let’s say you bought a UK/R2 Infamous and your default account is USA. Just make/ log in using your UK account, redeem the codes, and make the account primary so that other users using same/different region accounts can play them. But remember, not all codes can be shared (for instance, kyrat codes/ gta v money codes). But the rest you can redeem with no trouble. And those can be accessed using any other region accounts. So far tested and succeeded using (Shadow of mordor codes/ last of us codes/ infamous codes/ black flag codes).

Can I use one region PS Plus using another region game/account?

Yes you can. Just make sure you have that particular account to redeem that PS Plus. Let’s say you have a US Account as default with all your savegames and shiny trophies. Now you wanna play multiplayer. Get a retailer, buy a USD Ps Plus Subscription card, redeem it (using console, NOT PC!!), and make that account primary. Any accounts logged into that console with the PS PLUS account can access multiplayer features. Any games of any region can be played online without any problems.

Can I resume my ‘US game’ save files using a ‘UK game’ copy?

I’m afraid not. Even if it is installed and run with the same account, your save games and DLCs are region locked. If you redeemed your codes and got the DLCs/ packs using a USA Disc, you can’t find them using a UK disc. Same goes for savegames. If you have played the game using USA disc, and sold the game, and bought a UK disc, it will show you to start playing again. Don’t worry. Your files/ contents are not deleted, but just locked to that specific region. And don’t worry, if you’ve played the game with USA Copy and sold it, you can buy or get a USA copy – which does not have to be that exact same copy – but another copy from any part of the world – and your DLCs and savegames will come back to life.

What is REGION ALL?

This is the only thing that has been bugging me a lot. What is REGION All? In case of BluRay discs, R All means it has no region boundaries and can be used by any devices or using any region IDs. BUT in case of PS4 games, RegALL mostly means their DLC/Code contents can be redeemed using a USA/Canada accounts.

Which region games should I buy?

It entirely depends on you. If you are living in Malaysia, Singapore, USA, UK – then just maintain accounts accordingly. It will be easy for you to understand the currency – and maintain your PSN purchases. For the rest of us, it’s optional. Make all the accounts you want but try to maintain one account and buy all your games/ DLCs accordingly. If your USA account is default – buy all the games/ DLCs and PS PLUS for that account region to avoid risk. If you are not a DLC buyer/ game collector/ code user guy, but someone who buys game for trial or play for a while and sell it and never look back – then region is nothing but the middle name. So chill.

Personal Experience

I had no idea about regions when I bought my console 4 months back. So I took the one within my budget, which was Region 3 (Japan) for 36,000tk. I have made a USA account for my default use, and some other accounts for test purpose/ free games/ demos/ themes download purpose (UK/ Japan/ Malaysia/ Australia/ Canada). I buy games of Region 2 or Region 3 most of the time and redeem codes using their specific accounts. Another thing, I’ve purchased my WWE2k15 DIGITAL DELUXE Edition with my brother’s USA Account (made primary), and turns out my another brother can play and use all the free DLCs he got with his own CANADIAN Account. See what happened? Even though the countries don’t match, if the ‘purchase’ account is made primary and the DLCs can be shared (authorized by the developers of the game), you can share such contents among accounts 🙂 So far Everything works flawlessly and have faced no problem 🙂

There you have it. I’ve tried my best to make this as informative as possible. I will include all these things in my upcoming VLOGs that I will start making soon (hopefully!!). Special thanks to Akib Bhai for his PS4 FAQ Doc. And feel free to share/ comment on my doc and suggest/advise me where I’m wrong. You are always welcome to correct me.

Happy Gaming. SDB Out.
