The term Asian massage refers to any touch-based therapy that has developed out of the theories of Chinese and other Asian systems of medicine. Today it spans the globe and has a high concentration of followers in Miami. These forms of therapies are typically based on working with the flow of energy (chi) through the body on pathways called meridians and on the concepts such as yin/yang, the five elements, and chakras. Asian massage was originally done fully clothed. Miami Asian massage is typically done with minimal drapping allowing a a high flow of energy during an asian body massage.

There are a number of variations of Miami asian massage. Examples are Shiatsu (Japanese), Amma and Tuina (Chinese), Marma/Varma Adi (India), Nuad Bo Rarn (Thailand), Lomi Lomi (Hawaii/Pacific Island). These techniques and the manipulations vary greatly, so it would not be accurate to place them under one “Asian” umbrella. They are all very different but all are available at a Miami asian massage spa.

What Eastern or “Asian” massages generally have in common is the belief that they work on invisible energy lines- these are referred to as different things depending on the discipline (example: meridians, sen lines, marma points, tsubo points..). Some of theses discipline lean on the channeling of a cosmic force and others are more practical in their approach. The main aim of this approach is to release or remove energy blockages to bring the body back into balance. These are beliefs so far and these theories have not been proven by modern science yet, but these miami asian massage techniques do provide results. These theories were

These theories were developed thousands of years ago, before the modern scientific tools of investigation and analyzation came into being. However, it is important to understand exactly what is happening in an asian full body massage and how it produces measurable results without vagueness- this is how the science and practice of Miami asian massage evolved.

Different types of Miami Asian Massage therapy.

Miami Asian Massage is not just a term but it is an amalgamation of different kinds of massages from different places. There are various kinds of asian massages. Some of them are as follows:

Acupressure

Acupressure is said to be an alternative medicine technique similar to that of acupuncture. It is primarily based on the concepts of life energy which flows through meridians in the body. The physical pressure is applied to the acupuncture points during an asian body massage with an aim to clear blockages in those meridians. Pressure can be applied through hands, elbow, and various other devices.

Some of the studies have suggested that acupressure during applied by an asian massage therapist is an effective tool for managing nausea, and vomiting. It also helps a patient get rid of lower back pain, tension headaches, stomachache. Acupoints used in treatment may or may not be in the same area of the body as the targeted symptom. The traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theory for the selection of such points and their effectiveness is that they work by stimulating the meridian system to bring about relief by rebalancing yin, yang and qi (also spelled “chi”). The martial arts also make use of acupressure for the self-defence. The points or combinations of points are said to be used to manipulate or incapacitate an opponent. Also, martial artists regularly massage their own acupressure points in routines to remove supposed blockages from their own meridians, claiming to thereby enhance their circulation and flexibility and keeping the points “soft” or less vulnerable to an attack.

AMMA

Anma refers to both a practice of traditional Japanese massage and to practitioners of that art in Miami. Modern shiatsu is largely derived from anma. Anma is believed to be of Chinese origin, developing from Tui Na. Tui Na techniques arrived in Japan during the Nara period (710-793 CE), along with other techniques of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and were practiced in government-sponsored hospitals. This technique was founded in 1320 by Akashi Kan Ichi. Anma was popularised in the seventeenth century by acupuncturist Sugiyama Waichi, and around the same time the first books on the subject, including Fujibayashi Ryohaku’s Anma Tebiki appeared. The Fujibayashi school is the foundation of modern anma. Asian massage therapists were often nomadic, earning their keep in mobile massage capacities, and paying commissions to their referrers. In the nineteenth century, the image of asian massage therapy suffered somewhat from an association with the ukiyo lifestyle of urban Japan, and it was subsequently less well-regarded as a asian body massage therapy. During the Meiji period, the appearance of Western medicine reduced anma’s prominence still further. Many of its techniques were subsumed into shiatsu and Western massage practices, although research into anma for medical purposes continues at Tokyo Kyoiku University.]Anma is still practiced independently of shiatsu in Japan, with practitioners being certified by the health board of their local prefecture. They also travel to Miami yearly to train Asian massage therapists.

An asian full body massage therapist is able to increase the energy flow to specific organs through massaging a series of points in the navel area. Chi Nei Tsang frees the energy blockages in the navel and then guides the healing light energy into other parts of the body. Chi Nei Tsang was brought to America by Master Mantak Chia. And subsequently integrated into asian massage Miami culture.

Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a Japanese bodywork based on ideas in traditional Chinese medicine and is one of the most popular Miami asian massage therapy. This asian massage therapy derives from a Japanese massage modality called anma which was itself adapted from tui na. Tui na is a Chinese bodywork system that arrived in Japan by at least the Nara period (710-793). Tokujiro Namikoshi founded a shiatsu college in the 1940s, and is often credited with inventing modern shiatsu. The Five Element Shiatsu identifies a pattern of disharmony through use of the four pillars of examinations and to harmonize that pattern with an appropriate treatment plan. Hands-on techniques and preferences for assessment varies with the practitioner, depending on their individual background and training. The radial pulse usually provides the most critical and detailed information. Palpation of the back and/or abdomen and a detailed verbal history serve to confirm the assessment. Although this asian massage uses the paradigm of the five elements to tonify, sedate, or control patterns of disharmony, asian massage therapists of this style also consider hot or cold and internal or external symptoms and signs. Integrative Eclectic Shiatsu utilizes Japanese Shiatsu techniques, Chinese Medicine theory and Western methods of soft tissue manipulation. Dietary and herbal methods are also included to create a comprehensive integrated treatment method. Shiatsu literally means finger (Shi) pressure (Atsu) and although Shiatsu is primarily pressure, usually applied with the thumbs along the meridian lines, extensive soft tissue manipulation and both active and passive exercise and stretching may be part of the treatments. The emphasis of Shiatsu is the treatment of the whole meridian. The asian massage therapist assesses the condition of the patient’s body as treatment progresses. Macrobiotic Shiatsu supports a natural lifestyle and heightened instincts for improving health. Assessments are through visual, verbal, and touch techniques (including pulses) and the Five Transformations. This Miami asian massage treatment involves non-invasive touch and pressure using hand and barefoot techniques and stretches to facilitate the flow of Qi and to strengthen the body-mind. Zen Shiatsu is characterized by the theory of Kyo-Jitsu, its physical and psychological manifestations, and its application to abdominal (Hara) diagnosis during an asian body massage. Zen Shiatsu theory is based on an extended meridian system that includes the location of the traditional acupuncture meridians. The focus of a Zen Shiatsu asian body massage is on the use of meridian lines rather than on specific points. It does not adhere to a fixed sequence or set of methods that are applied to all similar client needs. It utilizes appropriate methods for the unique pattern of each individual. Zen Shiatsu was developed by Shizuto Masunaga and can be found at least one asian massage spa in Miami. Shiatsu Anma Therapy blends two of the most popular Asian massage therapy forms practiced in Japan. Dr. Kaneko introduces traditional Anma Therapy based on the energetic systems of Traditional Chinese Medicine in long form and contemporary pressure therapy which is based on neuro-musculoskeletal system in short form.
