What To Eat With Lobster Bisque

Lobster bisque is the ultimate creamy, savory, warming soup. Its unique, intricate, and rich flavor palette makes it an indulgence that’s beloved by people all over the world.

This dish is amazing however it’s served, but it’s typically presented along with a side, or even as a side to a main meal.

Classic Breads

Cheddar Bay Biscuits

These biscuits are a copycat recipe of the iconic red lobster cheddar bay biscuits, so you know they’re going to be amazing! They’re so savory, buttery, herbed, and perfect for dunking.

To make this scrumptious side dish, you first whisk together your dry ingredients (flour, cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and garlic powder), then cut in butter until the dough forms small, pea-sized clumps.

Once it’s the right texture, you’ll add in thickly shredded Cheddar cheese and buttermilk, then portion out the biscuit dough onto a baking sheet and bake in the oven at 425ºF for seventeen to twenty minutes or until golden brown.

While the biscuits are still warm, coat them with the topping mixture of melted butter, parsley, and garlic powder, and serve!

Garlic Bread

You can never go wrong with garlic bread (unless you’re hosting vampires!). This delicious side is so buttery and flavorful with a soft, moist center and a crunchy, crispy crust.

This bread is so easy to make at home, you’ll never go back to frozen! Simply get a nice French loaf and slice it into thick pieces, then slather both sides of each slice with a generous amount of butter, minced garlic, and parsley mix.

Pack the slices back into a loaf shape (the butter will help them stick together), wrap tightly in tin foil, and bake in the oven at 400ºF for twenty to twenty-five minutes.

Dinner Rolls

If you prefer simple bread, these dinner rolls are a perfect, classic addition to any spread. They’re springy, light, fluffy, buttery, and impossibly soft and mild.

You’ll be surprised at how easy it is to make rolls from scratch as well!

You first make a simple dough of flour, yeast, sugar, salt, warm milk, butter, and egg in a stand mixer, then transfer your dough to a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for half an hour.

Then, shape your rolls and place them evenly spaced on a baking sheet, let rise for another thirty minutes, and bake at 375ºF until golden brown (roughly twelve to fifteen minutes.)

Spread some melted butter on top of the rolls while they’re still warm, and serve immediately!

Cornbread (Trader Joe’s Copycat Cornbread)

This copycat Trader Joe’s cornbread is my all-time favorite cornbread recipe. It’s even better than the original, and so much cheaper to boot. It’s crumbly, moist, fluffy, and pleasantly sweet.

To make this cornbread, first mix together your dry ingredients (all-purpose flour, yellow cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt), then add in your wet ingredients (whole milk, egg, and melted butter) and stir until just combined.

Make sure not to over-mix, as it can lead to denser and tougher cornbread. If you like an extra pop of sweetness and texture, you can also add in frozen corn kernels at this point.

Then, spread the batter onto a baking tray, bake at 400°F until golden brown, serve, and enjoy!

Salads & Veggies

Strawberry Spinach Salad

This salad is one of my go-to’s! It’s easy, healthy, fresh, and bursting with sweetness.

It’s so simple to make as well! Just combine baby spinach, quartered strawberries (the riper the better), red onion, toasted almond slices, and crumbled feta cheese in a large bowl and dress with balsamic poppy seed dressing.

If you want to make your own dressing, you can easily whip it up at home as well!

Coleslaw

Coleslaw is a classic for a reason! It’s tangy, creamy, crunchy, and enhances anymeal.

While it’s easy to just buy coleslaw, it will never be as fresh and delicious as homemade.

You’ll be surprised how easy it is to make as well! All you need to do is combine shredded cabbage and carrots, then drizzle with a dressing of mayonnaise, sugar, vinegar, salt, and black pepper, and mix.

While you can serve it right away, I think it tastes best chilled, especially when you’re serving it with a hot meal like lobster bisque.

Arugula Salad with Goat Cheese and Figs

This elegant salad seems super fancy, and tastes like it too! It has spicy, slightly bitter arugula, sweet, sticky figs, and delightfully salty, creamy, crumbly goat cheese.

Despite the distinguished feel of this salad, it’s super quick and easy to prepare.

Just toss the arugula with toasted walnuts and vinaigrette, then top with quartered (or halved) figs and sprinkle with goat’s cheese.

If you’re serving everyone yourself, it’s sometimes easier to distribute the greens first and then top bowls individually to ensure everyone gets the same amount of fruit and cheese and the salads look appealing.

Brown Sugar Glazed Carrots

I adore sweet carrots as a side, but roasting them can sometimes be a time-intensive process that I’m just not up for.

That’s when I pull out this brown sugar glazed carrots recipe! These veggies are soft while still having a tender crunch, they’re super sweet and caramelized, and they work so well with almost any main dish!

Plus they take under half an hour from start to finish, and only four ingredients in total.

I also like to use baby carrots for this recipe so I don’t even have to chop anything, although any type of carrot will work fine.

Just place your carrots, brown sugar, and butter in a pan with half a cup of water and bring to a boil.

Then, cover and cook on low heat until the carrots are tender (roughly five to six minutes). Season with salt and pepper if you like, and serve them up!

Quinoa Salad with Herbs and Lemon

When I’m serving a carbless main meal like meat or soup, I enjoy serving a heartier salad to round out the meal and make sure everyone is satisfied.

This quinoa salad is perfect! It’s super healthy, packed with protein and fiber, as well as being bright, zesty, and delicious.

To make this salad, firstly cook your quinoa according to the package instructions.

While you can cook it in plain water, using broth (any is fine, though I normally use vegetable) adds a real depth of flavor.

Once the quinoa is soft and fluffy, combine it in a serving bowl with arugula, cucumbers, Parmesan, almonds, onion, basil, parsley, and mint, then dress with olive oil, lemon juice, and garlic, and serve whenever you’re ready.

Cucumber and Tomato Salad

If you’re after a super simple, cooling, refreshing, and scrumptious salad, you can never go wrong with cucumber and tomato! This simple salad comes together in just fifteen minutes and adds the perfect thoughtful touch to any meal.

Simply chop cucumbers and tomatoes into even, bite-sized pieces, then toss them together along with a dressing of olive oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper.

That’s all that’s strictly required, though I do think leaving the vegetables to soak up flavor in the fridge for a bit before serving enhances this dish! You can also add greens if you’re looking for a more traditional salad.

Penne Pasta Salad (30 Minutes!)

This dish is everything you want from a classic pasta salad: it’s creamy, tangy, packed with flavor, and addicting. However, this version also has a secret … It’s vegan and super healthy as well!

Not to mention how easy this penne pasta salad is to put together! After you’ve cooked and cooled your pasta, combine it with a simple pesto made from basil, garlic, pine nuts, lemon juice, vegan parmesan cheese, olive oil, and salt, as well as roasted cherry tomatoes. Dig in!

Hearty Sides

Steak Frites

This dish is such a treat! The steak is perfectly cooked, juicy, dripping, and tender, and paired with rustic, crunchy, spiced homemade fries. It’s the perfect meal for when you just want something special.

To get your fries extra crispy, this recipe recommends double frying them in vegetable oil. The crunch is just unbeatable, plus they’re lovingly seasoned with salt, pepper, olive oil, chopped parsley, and parmesan.

I love adding a little paprika and red pepper flakes sometimes as well!

Once your fries are done, sear your steak until it reaches your desired level of doneness (at least four to five minutes per side) then let rest for ten to thirteen minutes. Slice, and serve with the fries and horseradish sauce.

Cacio e Pepe

This simple pasta dish features strong, amazing flavors. It’s a classic for a reason!

Plus it only uses four ingredients and fifteen minutes! Just cook your spaghetti until al dente, then toss with pasta water, butter, parmesan cheese, and black pepper until it’s coated in a homogenous creamy sauce.

Serve with more grated parmesan, and watch it get gobbled right up!

Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms

These delicious stuffed mushrooms are hearty, earthy, creamy, and savory – not to mention being full of protein and nutrients.

This recipe uses chicken, but if you want to make a vegetarian dish you can substitute it for artichoke hearts, chopped mushroom, or quorn.

To make this dish, first roast your portobello mushroom caps on their own for about ten minutes.

While they’re cooking, finely chop the mushroom stems and sautee them in olive oil or butter with garlic, onion, and red bell pepper until tender.

Then, combine in a mixing bowl with sour cream, cream cheese, chicken, mozzarella, parmesan, and spinach.

Fill your mushrooms to the brim with this mixture, and top with more mozzarella before returning them to the oven. Bake until the cheese has browned (twelve to fifteen minutes), then serve. Be careful – they’ll be piping hot!

Crab Cakes

These crab cakes are tangy, tender on the inside, crunchy on the outside, and perfectly seasoned. They make an excellent protein and flavor-packed dish to serve to any seafood lover.

To prepare the crab cakes, mix together eggs, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire, Old Bay, salt, celery, and parsley until thoroughly combined, then fold into your crab meat and panko crumbs.

Form the mixture carefully into patties, and refrigerate them until set (at least an hour.) Once they’re ready, quickly fry them in olive oil until golden brown on both sides and serve immediately.

Risotto

You can never go wrong with risotto! This brown butter lobster risotto is one of my all time favorites.

It’s so creamy, indulgent, and elegant; it’s one of my favorite “fancy” dinner options.

Risotto can be a little tricky to make right, but once you’ve got it down it’s like riding a bike!

For the perfect creamy risotto, first saute some shallots in butter or olive oil, then add in your rice and stir until it’s just toasted.

Slowly add in your stock and wine, waiting to let the rice absorb all of the liquid before adding more.

Once the rice is soft, fluffy, and not taking in any more liquid, add in your lobster poached butter, parmesan, and chopped lobster, and serve warm with a garnish of spring onions or chives and a drizzle of brown butter.

Creamy Mac & Cheese

Who doesn’t love mac and cheese? This recipe takes the childhood classic and makes it a little more “adult”, with deep, intricate savory flavors, decadently cheesy, creamy sauce, and a perfect crunchy topping.

To make this mac, first make a roux with flour and butter, and slowly add milk until a creamy sauce has formed. Whisk in salt, nutmeg, cayenne, hot sauce, and mustard, then begin slowly adding your cheese mix.

Wait until the handful of shredded cheese has been completely incorporated into the sauce before adding in more.

Once the sauce is ready, stir in your al dente pasta and spread the mixture into a baking dish.

Top with mozzarella ( you can also add bread crumbs if you like) and broil until brown and bubbling, around five minutes. Scoop and serve generously.

Seafood Sides

Lobster Tails

You can always double down on the crustacean theme with grilled, baked, or Thermidor-style tails!

This recipe makes the absolute best broiled and butterflied lobster tails. They’re butter, tender, savory, and all-around amazing.

Oven-Steamed Mussels with Garlic and White Wine

This simple mussels recipe is one of my favorite shellfish dishes of all time.

It’s amazingly simple and quick to make and produces the most tender, tangy, buttery mussels.

Quick and Easy Grilled Scallops

Scallops are also always a good idea. These tender, springy, scallops couldn’t be easier to make!

Simply marinate them in olive oil, garlic, and lemon juice for a few minutes, then grill for two to three minutes on each side, or until opaque. That’s it!

Shrimp Cocktail

If you prefer a cool seafood dish to compliment your hot soup, a shrimp cocktail is the obvious answer. They’re so tender, bright, flavorful, and fun to pop in your mouth.

Lobster Butter Sauce

The most simple version of this sauce is just melted butter, lemon juice, and salt. And don’t get me wrong, it is crazy delicious! But if you want to mix it up, try adding garlic, chili flakes and cayenne, or lemon zest. It’s four sauces in one!

White Wine Sauce

It takes less than ten minutes to make this white wine sauce, and it’s sure to enhance any meal! It’s light, delicate, and refreshing.

Vodka Cream Sauce Recipe

If you’re looking for a heartier sauce, this decadent, rich vodka cream sauce is the one for you. It’s silky smooth, delightfully creamy, and bursting with fresh tomato and cheesy flavor.

Remoulade Sauce

Remoulade sauce is a must when serving seafood dishes! It’s so creamy, zesty, and gently spicey that I can never get enough!

Desserts

Sorbet

A fresh, zesty sorbet is the perfect delightful dessert on a hot day. It’s silky smooth, fruity, easy on the stomach, and fairly healthy. Plus, it only takes fifteen minutes of active time and you don’t even need an ice cream maker!

Ice cream

Of course, there’s nothing wrong with sticking to the classics. Ice cream is a beloved dessert worldwide for a reason – there’s nothing that hits the spot more than this creamy, smooth, and delightfully sweet treat.

Blueberry pie

If you want a warm dessert and a homey, welcoming vibe, this blueberry pie is to die for! It has a sweet, gooey, fruity filling encased in a buttery, flakey, crust, and each bite just tastes like summer!

Drinks

Beer Pairings

Belgian tripels

Belgian tripels are a medium dark ale. They’re strong, generally sitting around nine percent ABV, and delicious.

They have a distinct malty sweetness, and notes of orange, spice, hops, and even banana. These pleasant, warming beers are sure to hit the spot every time.

Hefeweizens

Hefeweizens are a type of German wheat beer. The name literally translates to “white beer”, referring to the drink’s unusually pale color.

The beer is low in hops and bitterness and has fruity flavors and aromas of vanilla, bubble gum, and clove. This fun beer is something a little different, super tasty, and great with a meal.

Light lagers

If you’re looking for a simple, refreshing beer that’s not too complex and heavy, a light lager is always a great choice!

These beers are lower in calories, and easy to pair with most meals due to their unobtrusive flavor profile.

While some light beers are lower in alcohol, not all of them are – so be sure to double-check if you’re looking for a reduced alcohol option!

Wine Pairings

Chardonnay

Chardonnay is a white wine that is generally dry and reasonably full-bodied.

While Chardonnay (like almost all wine types) varies greatly from bottle to bottle, it’s often rich and buttery with a slightly viscous mouth feel.

Many Chardonnays also possess notes of apple, pear, lemon, and/or papaya.

Sauvignon Blanc

Sauvignon Blanc is another popular white wine, that’s dry, tart, and reasonably acidic.

The sugar level varies from bottle to bottle, and some Savs can be quite sweet (though tarter is my personal preference!)

You can get really delicious bottles of Sav for a very reasonable price, and it is a well-liked white wine, making it a great choice for hosting.

Rosé

Rosé is a broad type of wine (like red or white), characterized by its appealing pink color.

These wines are bright, crisp, sweet, and generally low in tannins, making them pleasant with food or for those who don’t enjoy dry, complex wines. A bottle of Rosé is always a safe bet, as they’re super yummy and easy to drink.

Cocktail Pairings

Old Fashioned

The name Old Fashioned refers to the fact that these drinks are traditionally made by muddling a sugar cube with ice and water rather than using syrup, flavoring, or other more modern inventions.

If you’re not a purist, it’s fine to use simple syrup instead though!

This cocktail is simple, consisting of just whisky, Angostura bitters, a sweetener, and an (optional) garnish of an orange peel or maraschino cherry. It’s the perfect drink for a nightcap, pre-dinner cocktail, or little indulgence anytime.

Mai Tai

If you prefer a fruitier, more fun cocktail, try a Mai Tai! This drink is delightfully sweet and tart, making it ideal for a summer afternoon or by the poolside.

It’s made of two types of rum, orange liqueur, lime juice, orgeat syrup, and simple syrup, then garnished with fresh mint, a lime wedge, cocktail cherry, and pineapple slice.

Hurricane

The Hurricane is another rum-based fruity cocktail!

It’s a sweet, refreshing treat made from white and dark rum, fruit juices, grenadine, simple syrup, and lime.

The concoction is shaken, poured over ice, and enjoyed garnished with a wedge of orange and a maraschino cherry.
