In their eight years of existence, Savannah’s alt-baseball team has introduced absurd rules, dancing umpires, players on stilts, showy on-field introductions, flaming bats and many more quirks to the game.
Plus, former Major League Baseball icons like Johnny Damon, Barry Zito, Jake Peavy, Hunter Pence and Bill “Spaceman” Lee have all suited up for the team.
“I see Banana Ball as its own sport,” head coach Tyler Gillum told the NY Post. “It’s all about creating joy. We went to Vegas and some of the fans after the game said, ‘I’ve lived in Vegas my entire life and this is the best show I’ve ever seen.’”
Best of all, the Savannah Bananas and their star Noah Bridges may be coming to a ballpark near you in the very near future.
For the first time ever, the team will play at MLB stadiums and spring training facilities all over the country as part of their ‘2024 World Tour.’
There’s only one catch.
Even though they’re playing on bigger fields with more available seats, tickets are still quite expensive.
At the time of publication, the lowest price we could find on tickets was $100 before fees on Vivid Seats.
All other games have seats starting anywhere from $123 to $398 before fees.
Still, it’s hard to put a price on such a priceless experience.

About the Savannah Bananas
After forming in 2016, the “exhibition barnstorming baseball team” made a name for themselves by embracing “exhibition” and “barnstorming” while halfway ditching “baseball.”
The team now plays banana ball which has quirky rules like foul balls caught by fans count as outs, games cannot exceed two hours in length and batters are allowed to steal first base.
That’s barely scratching the surface of the game’s showmanship.

As you may have noticed, most games will find the Bananas squaring off against their cherished rival, the Party Animals.
Also based out of Savannah, the team is evenly matched with the Bananas.
“I think there are some guys that are obvious fits for the Bananas, and some guys that are obvious fits for the Party Animals,” coach Nate Fish told Savannah Now following team tryouts.

“We need the games to be really competitive. We can’t load up one team. It’s not like the (Harlem) Globetrotters and the (Washington Generals). The games aren’t scripted. The games are highly competitive. Anyone can win. We have to take a look at balance to do that.”
