1989 Vault tracks: What unreleased songs will be on 1989 (Taylor’s Version)?

Seeing as 1989 is full of pop bangers, coming-of-age anthems, New York City moments and wistful bops, the From The Vault tracks will likely be no different.

In her announcement Instagram post, Taylor teased: “To be perfectly honest, this is my most FAVORITE re-record I’ve ever done because the 5 From The Vault tracks are so insane. I can’t believe they were ever left behind.”

Taylor revealed the official vault track titles in September:

  1. ‘Is It Over Now? (Taylor’s Version)’
  2. ‘Now That We Don’t Talk (Taylor’s Version)’
  3. ‘Say Don’t Go (Taylor’s Version)’
  4. ‘Suburban Legends (Taylor’s Version)’
  5. ‘”Slut!’ (Taylor’s Version)’

Speaking to Billboard on the red carpet at the Grammys in 2014, legendary songwriter Diane Warren teased that she had been writing with Taylor on a “great song”. The song never made it on to the original 1989, but Diane briefly mentioned it again in another interview with Billboard in 2016.

“I know [Swift] likes it, so hopefully it will see the light of day. I know she really likes the song. She didn’t want me to give it away, so hopefully that means she wants it,” she said. Could it finally make a reappearance as one of these vault track?

1989 collaborators: Which other artists will feature on 1989 (Taylor’s Version)?

Well, here’s where it all gets a bit exciting. There’s actually ZERO collaborations or features on 1989 (TV), which makes this album the first re-record to feature only Taylor on all the tracks.

No Nicki Minaj, no Jonas Brothers, no Harry Styles, no Selena Gomez, no Lorde… No one!

However, fans have a theory that Taylor might release a double album that features a whole bunch of collaborations. Are we all about to walk Clownelia Street again or could there be some truth to the wild theory?

1989 easter eggs: What hints has Taylor dropped about 1989 (Taylor’s Version) so far?

There’s been so many, where do we even start? Fans originally thought that 1989 (Taylor’s Version) would drop before Red (Taylor’s Version) after she began dropping hints that heavily played into the 1989 era. That was way back in April 2021.

When Taylor appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to discuss Fearless (Taylor’s Version), she showed off a huge collage board full of 1989 easter eggs.

Flash forward to November 2021, Taylor appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to promote Red (Taylor’s Version), where she dropped yet another 1989 easter egg referencing ‘Wonderland’.

Taylor’s All Too Well (The Short Film) also featured a handful of 1989 easter eggs, and the music video for ‘I Bet You Think About Me’ appeared to feature countless references to ‘Wonderland’ as well.

In June 2022, Taylor ignited the 1989 TV rumours again when she popped up in an acceptance speech at the Las Culturistas Culture Awards. In a self-taped video, the 1989 Secret Session Nashville chalkboard can be seen hanging on the wall behind her. She was also wearing a vest that low-key resembles the light blue dress from ‘Out of the Woods’ music video.

Fans also clocked the references to baking in the acceptance speech. Taylor famously baked cookies for fans during the 1989 Secret Sessions. Since then, there’s been an endless amount of nods to 1989 in her recent music videos, in her nail art and even in the colours of her Eras Tour international dates list.

Fans also managed to figure out the 1989 (Taylor’s Version) announcement date days before Taylor unleashed the new era.

Swifties worked out that on August 9th, it will have been exactly 8 years, 9 months and 13 days (!!) since Taylor released 1989. That also equates to 3208 days since 1989 was released, which adds up to 13.

Fans who attended the Eras Tour on August 8th also reported that the light-up bracelets flashed blue 5 times when the concert ended. Sounds like Mastermind behaviour to us.
