In “The Dirt Locker,” students Mickey (Jaden Michael), Ema (Abby Corrigan), and Spoon investigate Ashley Kent’s (Samantha Bugliaro) disappearance. While Mickey and Troy’s (Brian Altemus) family members get reacquainted with one another.
It’s a messy episode overall, filled with needless flashback sequences, a plethora of unwarranted plot twists, and many scandalous reveals. It’s as though the series is trying to outdo itself with each new episode, but the plotting can’t possibly justify all of these shocking plot points logically.

Here’s what happened in Harlan Coben’s Shelter Season 1, Episode 3:
- Bat Lady and Sunglasses Man search for Ashley Kent, but they are running out of options.
- Mickey’s mother Kitty is readmitted to hospital. Mickey decides to put all his energy into finding Ashley. The trio of friends meet in an abandoned boiler room to continue the investigation
- They decide to search Ashley’s locker, but it is empty. Then Spoon hacks the school’s security footage. They plan to look through it all for clues. Ema finds footage of Ashley being bullied by the cheerleaders.
- Mickey’s grandparents throw a party. Hannah, Ken, and Troy attend. It’s awkward between the two families. Hannah and Shira make friends again and kiss each other in secret later that day.
- Flashbacks reveal how Rachel escaped from Octoface. She is traumatized by the event and slaps Troy in the present. She also broke into Ashley’s locker.
- Further CCTV footage shows Sunglasses Man breaking into Ashley’s locker. Mickey decides to confront them at the creepy house.
- He meets with Bat Lady and Sunglasses Man. Bat Lady talks about the war. She is Lizzy Sobeck. Bat Lady wants to find and kill her father’s killer, the Nazi who also killed many children during the war. Mickey thinks the same man killed Brad.
- Ashley is still alive, and she has a butterfly tattoo on her shoulder as well.
Harlan Coben’s Shelter Season 1 Episode 4 Release Date and Time
Episode 4 will be released on Prime Video on Friday, August 25th, 2023, at 12 am ET. Episode 4 is titled “Phantom Threads” and will have a run time of 46 minutes.

- As the title suggests, this episode may focus on the new school musical that the students are performing. Spoon and Buck both want to audition for the lead role in The Phantom of the Opera. Spoon will start a heated rivalry with Buck, but only one person can land that all-important role.
- Mickey and Bat Lady will work together to find Ashley and this Nazi killer. They will follow the clues they have and widen their investigation.
- Ema will start to talk to Whitney. They will start dating.
- More of Brad’s past will be revealed via flashbacks and Shira’s stories. What secrets are the adults hiding from Mickey?
