A look at Iga Swiatek’s 2023 tennis schedule and her results so far this campaign…
The Pole enjoyed an all-conquering 2022 season as she played in 17 tournaments and won eight of them – two of which were Grand Slams at Roland Garros and the US Open. She also rose to No 1 in the WTA Rankings and notched up a 37-match unbeaten run at one point.

Needless to say, Swiatek is the player to beat this year, but her season hasn’t exactly been plain sailing so far as she has faced stiff competition from Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina.
But how does the remainder of her 2023 tennis schedule look?
Confirmed and unconfirmed tournaments…
Poland Open – July 24-30
Given that is in her home country and on clay, Swiatek will be eager to make up for her quarter-final exit last year and give the locals plenty of reason to celebrate.
She is once again on the entry list for this year’s tournament along with Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova
Canadian Open – August 7-13
Swiatek’s North American hard-court swing didn’t get off to the best of starts last year as she exited the Canadian Open in the third round at the hands of Beatrix Haddad Maia so there is plenty of room for improvement this year.
In her only other appearance in the tournament in 2019, she also reached the third round.
Cincinnati Open – August 14-20
The Cincinnati Open also didn’t yield much success as she also didn’t make it past the third round in Mason, Ohio, losing against Madison Keys.
In fact, she is yet to make it past the third round in the back-to-back WTA 1000 events in North America.
US Open – August 28-September 10
But her results in Canada and Ohio were quickly forgotten as she went all the way at Flushing Meadows to win the US Open for the first time.
And again she saw off some big hitters in Sabalenka, Pegula and Jabeur and can expect more of the same this time around.
San Diego Open – September 11-17
Last year the San Diego Open took place in October with Swiatek using it as part of her build-up to the WTA Finals. The Pole won the tournament but she is unlikely to return this year given it takes place just days after the US Open final.
Guadalajara Open – September 18-24
Swiatek skipped the inaugural Guadalajara Open in 2022 as it came too soon after the San Diego Open, but the tournament has been given a new slot and it was one of the most popular events on the calendar last year.

The Pole could add it to her calendar, although the fact that it is a non-mandatory WTA 1000 event means there is not much pressure to play, given the travelling involved.
Pan Pacific Open – September 25-October 1
The Pole is yet to compete in an Asian swing as, since she rose to prominence in 2020, the tournaments in the region haven’t been held due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
It remains to be seen if she does head East, but the WTA 500 Pan Pacific Open has in the past been a popular tournament for players.
China Open – October 2-8
The China Open is a mandatory 1000 tournament so the big stars will all want to feature if they are fit and healthy.
If she does take her place in the main draw, then it will be her first appearance at the Beijing event.
Zhengzhou Open/Korea Open – October 9-15
Some stars prefer to head home after a big WTA 1000 event, others prefer to get in as many tournaments in the region before preparing for the end-of-season WTA Finals.
It remains to be seen if Swiatek will play in any of the Asian events.
WTA Finals – October 30-November 5
The WTA Finals is set to return to China for the first time since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020.
Swiatek is virtually assured of qualfying for the end-of-season tournament and she will be looking to improve on her semi-final from last year while in 2021 she crashed out in the round-robin phase.
She started well enough as she won her opening three singles matches at the mixed United Cup, but was then blown away by Jessica Pegula in the semi-final as Poland were hammered 5-0 by the United States.
It was a similar story at the Australian Open as she looked in great form during her first three matches, but was then stunned by Elena Rybakina in straight sets in the fourth round.

United Cup
She started well enough as she won her opening three singles matches at the mixed United Cup, but was then blown away by Jessica Pegula in the semi-final as Poland were hammered 5-0 by the United States.
Australian Open
It was a similar story at the Australian Open as she looked in great form during her first three matches, but was then stunned by Elena Rybakina in straight sets in the fourth round.
Qatar Open
Swiatek soon returned to title-winning form as she successfully defended her Qatar Open crown, defeating Jessica Pegula 6-3, 6-0 in the final.

She made it back-to-back finals on the Middle Eastern swing, but there was no trophy at the end as she suffered a 4-6, 2-6 defeat at the hands of Barbora Krejcikova in the final of the WTA 1000 event.
Indian Wells Open
The Pole started her Sunshine Double title defence strongly as she reached the semi-final, but ran into an inspired Rybakina once again as the Wimbledon champion won 6-2, 6-2.
Miami Open
The world No 1 didn’t defend her title in Miami as she withdrew from the WTA 1000 event due to a rib injury.
Stuttgart Open
Swiatek once again kicked off her clay-court season in Germany and just like last year, she started with a bang as she won the WTA 500 Stuttgart Open, defeating Sabalenka 6-3, 6-4 in the final.
Besides the title and prize money, she also won another Porsche.
Madrid Open
Last year she skipped the Madrid Open in order to protect an injury, but she returned to the Spanish capital this year and reached the final of the tournament for the first time.
However, she was beaten by Sabalenka with the Belarusian winning 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
Italian Open
Swiatek was looking to make it a hat-trick of titles at Foro Italico following her success in 2021 and 2022, but she was once again thwarted by Rybakina as the Kazakh advanced when the Pole retired with the score 6-2, 6-7 (3-7), 2-2.
French Open – May 28-June 11
Swiatek is turning into the Queen of Roland Garros as she won her third French Open title with some commanding performances.
She handed out four bagels and didn’t drop a set en route to reaching the final where she defeated Karolina Muchova 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 to win back-to-back titles in Paris.
Bad Homburg Open
Unlike last year, Swiatek opted to get some matches under her belt on grass ahead of Wimbledon and entered the WTA 250 event in Germany.
She reached the semi-finals, but then withdrew from her last-four clash against Lucia Bronzetti due to illness.
Wimbledon
After reaching the third round last year, Swiatek would no doubt have set her sights on reaching the final and she looked value for money early on as she won her first three matches comfortably.
She was then tested by Belinda Bencic in the fourth round as she had to save a couple of match points before going down in three sets against the unseeded Elina Svitolina in the quarter-final.
