When Does Season 13 Start League Of Legends

  • Season 13 of League of Legends will begin in less than a week.
  • Riot Games finally revealed the start date for League of Legends Season 13’s ranked.

Season 12 of League of Legends came to an official end on November 14, 2022, and Riot Games then unveiled the 2023 preseason. Sejuani was chosen by Riot as the Victorious skin last year, and players that finished Gold or above in Solo/Duo or Ranked Flex received the skin in addition to other prizes. The League of Legends publisher is overhauling Ranked in 2023 in preparation for Season 13 of the game. Players now have exciting news about the start of the season, ranking splits, and more since the devs have returned to work after their end-of-year breaks.

The start date for League of Legends Season 13 and other information are provided below.

League of Legends Season 13 start date

It appears that Riot Games has at last paid attention to the players who questioned when they might start this year’s ranked ascent. Riot Games has finally informed the League of Legends player population of the League of Legends Season 13 launch date, just four days into the year 2023. On January 3rd, game designer Ezra “Phlox” Lynn announced the first patch preview for 2023 on Twitter and said that they were still investigating Solo Queue outliers for balance as the game approached the beginning of the season. He noted that the first patch and the start of League of Legends Season 13 are both on January 10 (Tuesday).

What’s changing this year in ranked?

Firstly, Season 13 will have two ranked resets. Split 1 is set to start on 10th January and Split 2 will start in the middle of the year as Riot Games is still deciding on the exact timing of Split 2’s start. Additionally, Riot Games is also changing the ranked promotion series between tiers from best-of-five (BO5) to best-of-three (BO3). It said, “We’re removing visible rank influence from your matches.”

Secondly, Riot acknowledged that the previous ranked split track had only four rewards that were spread pretty far apart and that the rewards were not motivating or rewarding players enough. As a result, the number of rewards is increasing this year.

Lastly, players will be able to earn two ranked skins, one each per split. Interestingly, ranked skins will be available to players of all ranks, not just Gold and above, provided players clock in a set number of games. The catch, however, is that players who reach Gold from lower tiers (Iron, Bronze, Silver) will automatically earn the Victorious skin right after their promotion and will have the skin intact in their inventory even if they get demoted back to lower tiers. But the players placed above Gold tiers will continue to earn the rewards only at the end of the ranked split.
