When Does Zach Bryans New Album Come Out

Zach Bryan delighted fans by revealing that his new album will be released in August 2023. The ‘Something in the Orange’ hitmaker then teased, ‘Montana bound baby! Albums in August!’

After some confusion courtesy of The Lumineers frontman, Wesley Schultz, Zach later unveiled the artwork for his new self-titled album, sharing that it would be released on August 25. Thankfully, it’s now out in the world, with Zach fans celebrating the fact that they now have 16 new tracks to devour and dissect. It feels like a second Christmas – especially given the fact that Zach dropped an entire album on actual Christmas.

Zach Bryan features previously teased collaborations with The War and Treaty (‘Hey Driver’), Sierra Ferrell (‘Holy Roller’) and The Lumineers (‘Spotless’), as well as a captivating guest appearance from country star, Kacey Musgraves (‘I Remember Everything’).

In a tweet last year, the Oklahoma native announced the title of the hotly anticipated project would be ‘Writers and Fighters’. He then decided to ditch this in favour of releasing a self-titled record instead, explaining on his socials that he did this because “I hear every cell of my being in it. Some of it’s slow and low, some of it’s reckless, some of it’s loud, some of it’s quiet, but it’s all me at twenty-seven. I put everything I could in it and I am at a loss for words at what a blessing this life is”.

The prolific singer-songwriter has gained a reputation for his relentless release strategy, having dropped his American Heartbreak album, a summer EP, a smattering of singles and a live album in under twelve months.

With Bryan having teased a plethora of songs over the past year or so, it was always going to be tricky to narrow them down into one tracklist – especially given the fact that Zach Bryan is only fifteen songs long, in addition to a ‘Poem’ version of ‘Fear & Fridays’.

In an April tweet, Bryan revealed that it would span eleven songs, but he (thankfully) threw a few extra offerings into the mix for good measure – and it’s safe to say we’re not complaining.

The Kacey feature has been stealing most of the headlines, but the entirety of Zach Bryan is nonetheless shaping up to be another highlight in what’s been an incredible year for new country music releases.

Fans were disappointed to see one that one of Zach Bryan’s most celebrated unreleased tracks, ‘Deep Satin’, would not be making the cut for the new album. However, the singer-songwriter later shared that he’d be releasing ‘Deep Satin’ as a single in the coming months.

Listeners are glad to see one much-loved teaser that will definitely feature is ‘Tradesman’, along with ‘Smaller Acts’, ‘Hey Driver’ – featuring The War and Treaty – and ‘El Dorado’. Zach revealed all the proceeds from the latter will go towards Christian McCaffrey’s veterans charity.

Towards the end of 2022, Bryan stated that the project would be released around February 2023.

However, on the first day of February, the Oklahoma maverick apologetically confirmed that the album would no longer be released in February, and that fans would have to wait a little longer before they got their hands on Bryan’s American Heartbreak follow-up.

Shortly after the start of the new year, Zach Bryan treated fans to a clip of an untitled and unreleased song, called ‘Summertime’s Close’, which appears on the new project. The gentle track showcases the singer-songwriter’s unrivalled ability to captivate listeners over beautifully sparse yet evocative instrumentation.

In addition, over the past few months Bryan has been regularly posting clips of unfinished songs to TikTok. These include tracks such as ‘Holy Roller’ and ‘Oklahoman Son’, both of which have found their way onto the Zach Bryan tracklist, with ‘Holy Roller’ featuring an enchanting contribution from Sierra Ferrell.

Earlier in the year, after briefly deleting his Twitter and Instagram accounts, the Oklahoma maverick took to TikTok to share two emotive song teasers, entitled, ‘177 Chrystie’ and ‘Tourniquet’. Only the latter features on the newly released record.

Although he’d already teased enough music for three or four albums, Bryan continued to test out new material. In March, the Oklahoma chart-topper shared a clip of him performing a new track, entitled ‘Fear and Fridays’. This is also included on the Zach Bryan tracklist, along with a ‘Poem’ edition of the song, which kicks off the entire album.

Towards the end of March, the singer-songwriter posted a snippet of a heart-rending new exploration of loss, ‘East Side of Sorrow’. This appears on the project as Track 4.

He followed this up with another demo of a song named ‘Smaller Acts’ – Track 15 on the newly unveiled record – which showcases Zach Bryan’s trademark observational skills, as he pays tribute to his parter’s appreciation of the little things.

Zach Bryan’s announcement of a 2023 studio album reverberated around the country music world, especially given Bryan’s role as one of the most popular and trailblazing artists in the genre.

Now that we’re able to listen to Zach Bryan in full, it seems the sky-high expectations were met, as Zach delivers another game-changing record that will no doubt be cherished for years to come.
