When Is Cabot Fest 2023

Maybe it’s the cool feel of autumn in the air, the alluring aroma of barbecue or a chance to have some outside fun out at 45th annual Cabotfest after a long hot summer that brings in folks to Cabot each year.

Gina Jones, Cabot Chamber of Commerce president and CEO, “It is the beginning of the unofficial festival season, and that along with a hint of fall in the air. I think that gets everyone excited to be outdoors and doing things.”

Cabotfest brings folks in from around the state and without breaking the bank.

Jones said, “We are excited to be bringing three nights of events this year, kicking things off with our BBQ Cook Off and Cornhole Tournament.”

Admission is free and open to the public.

The family-friendly festival opens this Thursday, Oct. 12, with the BBQ Cookoff at 4 p.m.. It wraps up at 8 p.m., and for those who want to sample and vote for their favorite, tasting tickets are 10 for $10.

On Friday, Oct. 13, the carnival opens at 6 p.m. along with a large variety of food vendors.

The carnival runs through 11 p.m., while the food vendors stop serving at 10 p.m.

In addition to feeding the body, Friday night starting at 6 p.m. is devoted to feeding the soul for those who feel the need. A Community Worship Night is scheduled from 6 until 8 p.m., and includes performances by the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and the New Life Church. The praise bands will be followed by a showing of the 2016 movie “Miracle From Heaven.”

Saturday will kickoff on-stage performances at 9 a.m., with the carnival and vendors opening at 10 a.m. Afternoon and evening performances include a Linkin Park Tribute, Susan and Cliff, An Ode to Sting and The Police, and the headliner, then Ultimate Whitney Houston Tribute.

The Party Music will be arranged by DJ Deja Blu, and both the stage and carnival are open until 10 p.m.

Cabotfest 2023 shirts will be available at the Cabot Chamber of Commerce booth, in front of Cabot City Hall during the event, or can be purchased ahead of time at the Chamber of Commerce office, 110 S. First St.

“We are also taking pre-orders/pre-payment for sweatshirts with the same design,” Jones said.

Along with tee-shirts, the Cabot Firefighter Calendar Association will be debuting its 2024 Cabot Firefighter Calendar at Cabotfest on Saturday, Oct. 14.

Calendars will be available for purchase or can be ordered online starting the same day.

“It sounds like our weather will be perfect too, so bring your family and friends and come on out for a full weekend of fun,” Jones said.

Last year, possibly 20,000 to 30,000 attended the October event.

“Cabotfest is growing. We are always looking for great ways to change it up a bit (but) we provide something for everyone that won’t break the bank,” Jones said.

They brought back their BBQ Cookoff and added a Cornhole Tournament.

Cornhole is also known as Baggo. It’s typically played as a yard game in which players or (two-person) teams take turns throwing fabric bean bags at a raised, angled board with a hole in its far end.

“The goal of the game is to score points by either landing a bag on the board, or putting the bag through the hole,” Jones said.

Along with the growing number of visitors, Jones said, “We also have quite a bit of new vendors this year, with some new boutiques and some craft style vendors.” Newcomers include Buttonwood Boutique of Ward and Monograms and Mercantile of Cabot.
