After weeks and months of anticipation, the wait is over to find out which four college football teams will compete for the sport’s biggest, most coveted prize.
On Sunday, the four teams in this year’s College Football Playoff will be revealed on a selection show that will air on ESPN.

As it does most years, the Big Ten figure will prominently in Sunday’s proceedings. Coming off its 26-0 shutout victory against Iowa in the Big Ten championship game Saturday in Indianapolis, Michigan owns a 13-0 record and a third-consecutive conference championship, effectively guaranteeing it a spot in the playoff for the third time in as many years.
With a loss to the Wolverines in their regular-season rivalry finale, Ohio State will face an uphill climb to back into the playoff in the same way it did last season after falling against Michigan. The Buckeyes were No. 6 in last week’s rankings from the playoff selection committee and a surprising upset loss by No. 1 Georgia and struggle victory by No. 4 Florida State likely keeps the Buckeyes out of the CFP.

Sunday’s College Football Playoff rankings will end a stretch of six-consecutive weeks in which the playoff selection committee released its top 25. The previous five sets of rankings aired on Tuesday nights.
Sunday’s rankings are being publicized following the end of conference championship weekend, when many of the nation’s top teams are taking their final steps toward the playoff.
