When Is Daytona Bike Week 2024

4. There’s More to Explore on A1A North

Kick it up a notch and ride up along A1A north to Vilano Beach and Ponte Vedra Beach. Along the way, stop at the North Beach access and see the site where Ponce de Leon first laid eyes and claimed Florida for Spain. Enjoy dining at one of the great waterfront restaurants along A1A. The Reef offers amazing cuisine and equally breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean from its deck. Or, visit Kingfish Grill for fresh fish and seafood on the water at Camachee Cove Yacht Harbor with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Aunt Kate’s on the River and Cap’s on the Water are also famous for their seafood dishes and sunset views over the Intracoastal Waterway. Further north, be sure to check out the Bourbon Library at Valley Smoke BBQ before indulging in the slow-smoked barbecue. Palm Valley Fish Camp welcomes you with some of the freshest local seafood in a relaxing outdoor environment.

5. Ready for Side Trips?

From St. Augustine, take a ride west on King Street (SR 214) to the rural area of Florida’s Historic Coast. Once at the river, travel north along the William Bartram Scenic and Historic Highway or A1A Scenic and Historic Coastal Byway, recently designated as an All-American Road. If you love nature and wide-open vistas, this ride along the St. Johns River will not disappoint as you wind your way through palm and palmetto barrens, oak hammocks, and swamps. Be sure to check out Beluthahatchee Park, where you might come upon local wildlife, including osprey, eagles, snowy egrets, ibis, and herons. This is Old Florida at its best.
