The bread, decorated to look like a king’s crown, is now being made by El Paso area bakeries and food stores to celebrate the Epiphany on Friday. It commemorates the visit by the three kings to baby Jesus.
Typically, El Pasoans gather in family to cut a slice and see who gets the plastic baby inside. The baby means the person will have to throw a party on Feb. 2, also called Dia de la Candelaria (or Candlemas).
