Macy’s One Day Sale January 2024
The first One Day Sale of the year was January 5-7, 2024. If history repeats itself, the next ODS will happen the first weekend of February. I have all the sale details at the bottom of this post.
The last One Day Sales before that were December 15-17, 2023, December 7-9, November 3-5 and then it was September 15-18. I can’t remember the last time a ODS lasted through Monday!

The 2023 One Day Sale dates were:
- December 15-17, 2023
- December 7-9, 2023
- November 3-5, 2023

- February 3-5, 2023
- January 6-8, 2023
2022 One Day Sales
We saw two one day sales at the end of the year: December 16-18 and December 8-10. The one before that was November 4-6 and then September 16-18, 2022. Typically, the One Day Sale happens the third weekend of the month. That held true for September.
The previous ODS was August 5-8 (extended to due technical issues!). The one for July was July 15-18. The last Macy’s One Day Sale was May 13-15 & March 11-13 before that. The one in February was February 4-6, 2022 and January’s was January 7-9, 2022.
One Day Sale Schedule from 2021
The final One Day Sale of 2021 was December 17-19 and we had one just before that on December 9-11. November’s One Day sale happened on November 8-10.
The fall sales took place September 17-19 and then August 6-8. The previous ones were: July 16-18, 2021, May 14-16, 2021, March 12-14, 2021, February 5-7, and the January One Day Sale was in fact the first weekend of January (specifically January 8-10).
2020 One Day Sales
The last 2020 Macy’s One Day Sale was December 18 through December 20, 2020. The other December One Day Sale was Thursday, December 10 through Saturday, December 12, 2020.
The one before that was the Black Friday One Day Sale- Friday, November 13, 2020, through Sunday, November 15, 2020. The last one was Friday, September 18, 2020, through Sunday, September 20, 2020.
We seemed to be getting back on track with monthly Macy’s One Day Sales. The last One Day Sale was Friday, August 7th – Sunday, August 9th and July’s One Day Sale was Friday, July 17, 2020 – Saturday, July 18, 2020. (Do you think they had it in honor of my birthday?). We also saw a sale June 26-28, 2020.

Before that, we didn’t see an ODS until March 13th-15th. February marked their Valentine’s One Day Sale, which was February 8th with its preview day February 7th. Macys also started the New Year right on January 3-4, 2020 so we could put all those Macy’s gift cards we received to good use.
Something similar happened that spring. Instead of a One Day Sale in March and April, Macy’s had their 48-hour sale. The last One Day sale before that happened February 8-9, 2019. The January One Day Sale was Wednesday, January 5, with its preview day January 4.

Macy’s One Day Sale Schedule
We can no longer assume Macy’s will have a One Day Sale each month. For example, last year it was surprising that there wasn’t a One Day Sale in July (since Macy’s usually has them about once a month). Interestingly enough, it seemed the fall Macy’s One Day Sale happened at the same time as their back to school sale. This is when they also offered 25% off Nike.
And if I’m being honest, with the way Macy’s has been shaking up their One Day Sales lately, we don’t know if there will be one each month. This is why it’s surprising they had two One Day Sales in December in prior years. The Difference Between Macy’s One Day Sale & the Preview Day
Several of you have asked what the difference is between the Saturday One Day Sale and the preview day on Friday and the answer is…NOTHING! I’m not sure why Macy’s does it this way. I suggest going in on the preview day if you can to get the absolute best selection (just make sure to go in the morning so you can take advantage of the doorbuster deals too).
During the summer or holidays, Macy’s will occasionally have their One Day Sales mid-week, with the sale itself on Wednesday and the Preview Day on Tuesday.

A Macy’s One Day Sale can happen right in the middle of the week, with the preview day on Tuesday and the One Day Sale itself on Wednesday. Typically, the Macy’s One Day Sale happens on Saturday, with the preview day on Friday. Lately, the One Day Sales have been lasting three days (Friday through Sunday).

The Macys One Day Sales are usually the third weekend of the month. Stores are generally open from 9 am – 11 pm, with special doorbuster deals through 1 pm on Friday AND Saturday. Sometimes the stores will open as early as 6 or 7 am for the One Day Sale Doorbuster Deals. However, as with all sales, it’s always important to check with your own local store for hours before going.

Macy’s normally offers free shipping and free returns anytime when you spend $99 or more, but they were offering free shipping with orders over $25 during the last One Day Sale sale.
