After spending years in Daley Plaza, the official city Christmas tree was moved to Millennium Park in 2015 and it’s been there ever since.
The 110th City of Chicago Christmas Tree is a 45-foot Colorado Blue Spruce donated by the De La Cruz family of Darien, IL.
The Chicago Christmas tree lighting ceremony is always a full evening of entertainment. Past performers have included talent as diverse as the “People’s Diva” opera star Renée Fleming and Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider.
The 2023 event includes multiple viewing locations with screens and concessions across Millennium Park.
New this year, the main stage will be located on Washington St. adjacent to the Chicago Cultural Center, directly across Michigan Avenue from the Chicago Christmas Tree.
The main stage will feature holiday performances capped off with the traditional Tree Lighting Ceremony and fireworks.

There’s also the Puerto Rican Arts Alliance’s 2023 National Cuatro Festival with featured artists from Puerto Rico – Emma Colon Zayas, Maribel Delgado, Fabiola Mendez, with singer Celenia Sanchez Mata, and Santa and Mrs. Laura Lynn Claus.
The actual tree lighting will be around 6:30pm and will be heralded with fireworks.
