When Is The Deerfield Fair

The 2023 Deerfield Fair is Thursday, September 28 through Sunday, October 1. At Deerfield Fair, our 4-H youth and Volunteer leaders get to showcase their hard work from the year. Exhibits in the 4-H Building, livestock barns, and show rings emphasize the practical life skills gained through a broad variety of 4-H projects and activities.

Animal Exhibits: Many 4-H members work on projects related to agriculture and animal husbandry. 4-H members from across New Hampshire show their animals and practice their skills, not only as they pursue ribbons and fair premiums, but also as they work to educate other fairgoers about responsible agricultural practices.

Building Exhibits: Exhibits in the 4-H Building at Deerfield Fair include individual and club/program displays on cooking, rocketry, shooting sports, gardening, sewing and textiles, GPS navigation, communications skills, wind power, hiking and environmental stewardship, service learning, and much more!

Staff the 4-H Exhibit Hall during the Fair

Can you help staff the 4-H Building during the Fair? Volunteering for a shift in the 4-H Building is ideal for both Club Leaders and youth who want to showcase their Club and recruit new members and for parents of youth who are showing animals. Typical duties include looking cool behind the 4-H information and merchandise table, laughing with friends (who you asked to volunteer with you), sharing warm greetings with fairgoers, and getting free 4-H clothing for being so generous with your time and knowledge about 4-H. Expect to help direct people to other locations on the fairgrounds, hand out 4-H program information to interested new families, and take care of merchandise transactions. 4-H Building shift Volunteers receive a free entry pass to the fair on the day of their shift.

Want to hang out with 4-H all day? Sign up to serve as the 4-H Building Manager for a day! The Building Manager will supervise the Building Volunteers and ensure smooth transitions between shifts. They will orient the other building Volunteers on their duties, cover the 4-H table when shift Volunteers take a break, and model a warm and inviting 4-H environment. This role is perfect for someone who has volunteered in the 4-H Building in the past and wants to take the next step. Shifts are 3-3 1/2 hours and run from 8am to 8pm daily, and Building Managers receive a free entry pass to the fair on the day of their shift as well as additional free passes for themselves and their families to enjoy the fair on any other day.

Be a Project or Display Judge

We need help judging 4-H project entries during exhibit set-up times: Monday Sept 25 from 6:00pm-7:00pm or Tuesday Sept 26 from 5:00pm-7:00pm. We also need judges for Overall Club and Family Displays on Wednesday Sept 27 from 10:30am-12:00pm. If you volunteer to judge on any of these days, you will receive one free admission ticket for your preferred day of the fair.
