Timothée Hal Chalamet is a French-American actor born in New York City on December 27, 1995, to Nicole Flender, a real estate broker and dancer, and Marc Chalamet, a UNICEF editor. His mother, who is from New York, is Jewish, and descended from Russian and Austrian Jews. His father is of French and English ancestry and originates from Nîmes, France. He is the nephew of filmmaker Rodman Flender and the grandson of playwright Harold Flender. He is the brother of actress Pauline Chalamet. He was raised in an artistic household, starring in commercials and the New York theatre scene while attending LaGuardia High School of Music, Art, and Performing Arts. Timothée also attended Columbia University for a while.

He has appeared on stage in Anna Kerrigan’s drama “The Talls” and John Patrick Shanley’s autobiographical “Prodigal Son.” He has had a starring role in “Law & Order” (1990), a supporting role in the film “Loving Leah” (2009), and more substantial appearances in the shows “Royal Pains” (2009) and “Homeland” (2011), among other things. He made his cinematic debut by playing a high school student in Jason Reitman’s “Men, Women, and Children” (2014) and the teenage son of Matthew McConaughey’s character in “Interstellar” (2014). He went on to play the younger version of writer Stephen Elliott in “The Adderall Diaries” (2015), as well as the male lead, Zac, in the drama “One and Two” (2015), and Billy in the road trip drama “Miss Stevens” (2016).

He rose to prominence in 2017 after his roles in “Hostiles” as a soldier in the western, in “Lady Bird” as the high school crush of the title character, and as Elio in Luca Guadagnino’s drama “Call Me by Your Name,” Timothée’s performance as Elio was well received. He got nominated for an Academy Award for ‘Best Actor’ and a Golden Globe Award for ‘Best Actor in a Drama,’ as well as other critics’ accolades for ‘Best Actor of the Year.’ In 2018, he played Nic Sheff in the drama “Beautiful Boy,” in which he struggled with substance abuse. In 2019, he stars alongside Selena Gomez in Woody Allen’s comedy “A Rainy Day in New York,” plays Henry V of England, King from 1413 to 1422, in the historical drama “The King,” and plays Laurie in Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of “Little Women” (2019).
