Tony Hawk has reminded the internet once again that he is meme-aware.
Everyone’s favourite skateboarder attended the Oscars ceremony on Sunday (27 March), despite having broken his leg earlier this month – what a trooper!

Of course, he found himself brushing shoulders with fellow A-list celebs, but there was only one person that the internet cared about.
Taking to Twitter, Hawk announced that he had finally been united with Wesley Snipes, the famous actor featured in that viral meme.
Back in 2018, a meme depicting Snipes in his movie New Jack City went viral, in which he’s pictured holding up a gun ready to kill his close friend.
The infamous caption read: “When the race war is happening and I gotta kill Tony Hawk.”
Nevertheless, the real amusement came from Hawk’s response, which read: “I appreciate the hesitation.”
The pair finally came together for Sunday’s ceremony, where they took a snap together to commemorate the meme, which of course went viral.

Hawk posted the picture to Twitter with the caption: “I was spared. Life is good.”
Twitter users shared their excitement at the meme living on.
One said: “This is legendary.”
Another added: “This tweet going in the Twitter Hall of Fame.”
A third wrote: “The world might yet know peace.”
A fourth simply said: “Tony Hawk just ended racism.”
Fans also noted their surprise to see Hawk attending the Oscars after he broke his leg.
He worried fans after footage showed him hobbling down a hospital corridor on crutches.

The 53-year-old then opened up about his injury in a lengthy Instagram post and insists he ‘won’t stop skating’ until he is physically unable.
“Yesterday sucked,” Hawk said.
“I broke my elbow 20 years ago and managed to make a full comeback; this recovery for a broken femur will be much harder because of its severity (and my age). But I’m up for the challenge.
“I’ve said many times that I won’t stop skating until I am physically unable. A broken leg – with plenty of hardware – will probably be the biggest test of that creed.
“I’ll be back… maybe not at full capacity but I resigned to that notion years ago as I approached ‘mid-life’.
“Thanks to my unyieldingly supportive, tolerant family – and all of you – for the love and support through the years; I wouldn’t be here without you. See you on the other side.”
