The New York Giants (1-5) will face the Eagles in Philadelphia on Thursday night in hopes of reversing an ugly trend in which they’ve lost 11 of the last 12 games to their division rivals.
The Giants defeated the Eagles, 15-7, on October 27, 2013 but have only won once since then — a span of 12 games. That lone win happened on November 6, 2016 at MetLife Stadium.

Both teams entered the game with 4-3 records in a matchup of two rookie head coaches — Ben McAdoo of the Giants and Philadelphia’s Doug Pederson. The Eagles had won five of the last six meetings including the last four. The Giants needed to put an end to that.

2016 would also be the Giants’ only winning season since 2013 and they were making a playoff drive. This game was a key win along that path.
The Giants jumped out to a quick 14-0 first quarter lead and never relinquished it. Quarterback Eli Manning (22-of-36 or 257 yards) threw four touchdown passes — two to Odell Beckham Jr. and one each to Roger Lewis and Sterling Shepard.
The defense made several key plays against Eagles rookie quarterback Carson Wentz and on special teams en route to a 28-23 victory.

“It was a game marked by big plays on offense — six of more than 30 yards in the first half alone- and defense (four interceptions) and special teams (Jason Pierre-Paul’s block of a field goal , Darren Sproles’ 66-yard punt return),” reported the AP. “Most of Sunday, it was a mismatch of Manning and his receiving corps against a sieve of an Eagles secondary. New York picked on every Philly defensive back, with the biggest Leodis McKelvin, no matter who he tried to cover.”
“Philadelphia, the last few years, has had our number,” said Manning. “We’ve played close games, but haven’t been able to win those close games. So to be able to pull it off today and get that win was nice.”
But nothing ever comes easy for the Giants when it pertains to the Eagles. Manning was intercepted with less than 2:00 to go and the defense had to make a stand inside the 20 preserve the win.
Since that victory, the Giants have dropped seven consecutive games to Philadelphia.
