When Will The Heisman Be Announced

Jayden Daniels, Marvin Harrison Jr., Bo Nix and Michael Penix Jr. were named 2023 Heisman Trophy finalists. The winner of the 2023 Heisman Trophy will be announced on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN. Here’s what you need to know about the finalists.

Jayden Daniels, LSU

Jayden Daniels is looking to become the third LSU Tiger to win the Heisman, joining quarterback Joe Burrow (2019) and running back Billy Cannon (1959). A second or third-place finish from Daniels would make him the third Tiger to do so.

Daniels finished with 4,946 total yards and 50 total touchdowns in 2023.

Marvin Harrison Jr., Ohio State

Marvin Harrison Jr. is looking to become the eighth Heisman winner in Ohio State history, giving the Buckeyes the most in college football. Harrison is the fifth Heisman finalist from Ohio State since 2018, joining defensive end Chase Young (2019), who finished fourth, and quarterbacks Dwayne Haskins (2018), Justin Fields (2019) and C.J. Stroud (2022), who all finished third in voting. In addition to those three, a Buckeye has finished second or third in voting five other times.

Harrison Jr. finished with 1,211 receiving yards and 14 receiving touchdowns in 2023.

Bo Nix, Oregon

Bo Nix is looking to become the second Oregon quarterback to win the Heisman trophy, following in the footsteps of Marcus Mariota in 2014. The only other Duck to finish in the top three of voting was running back LaMichael James in 2010.

Nix finished with 4,145 passing yards and 40 passing touchdowns in 2023.

Michael Penix Jr., Washington

Michael Penix Jr. is looking to become the first Heisman Trophy winner in Washington’s history. If he finishes in the top three of voting, he’ll also be the first Husky to do so.

Penix Jr. finished with 4,218 passing yards and 33 passing touchdowns in 2023.

Transfers

Three of the four Heisman finalists are transfers. Jayden Daniels transferred from Arizona State to LSU, Bo Nix transferred from Auburn to Oregon and Michael Penix Jr. transferred from Indiana to Washington.
