Mignon lost his parents at a very young age. Thus, to make ends meet, he worked as a mechanic in the day and a cage fighter at an illegal arena at night. However, his manager is very strict with him and disciplines him harshly for losing matches. In such a tough life, the only person who looked after him was the doctor at the illegal arena, Oh Young-One.
While Mignon loved the doctor and wanted to get close to him, the doctor kept his distance. It was partly because Mignon’s coach had warned him against getting too attached since it could jeopardize his career. During this back and forth, Mignon happened to learn Young-One’s true identity as a vampire. Despite the doctor trying to push Mignon away, Mignon still tries to pursue his love.
However, one incident completely shakes the trajectory of their dynamic. Mignon catches Young-One drinking human blood while trying to get his gloves before a match. The doctor is a vampire, and this knowledge gradually changes their relationship.

Final thoughts
Mignon anime is a gritting tale about a struggling young man and a mysterious, immortal being. While Mignon and Young-One’s romance is central to the story, it also explores the cruel environment of the illegal boxing arena. Despite Mignon’s prowess, he cannot escape his abusive coach.
The short duration of the episodes means the growth of the lead couple’s affection, and Young-One’s long, enigmatic life is not explored in depth. However, the stunning animation and engaging storyline compensate for it. Like ABJ Company’s previous work, Hyperventilation, this anime is also a treat for BL lovers.
