Where Does Cooper Manning Live

Cooper Manning wears a lot of hats: He’s a member of the famous football dynasty, host of the Manning Hour on Fox Sports, and senior managing director of investor relations at AJ Capital Partners. He is also passionate about his native city. If you run into him about town, he’ll likely wax poetic about the historic Pontchartrain Hotel, which he was instrumental in reviving. And it’s no wonder—the iconic hotel once frequented by Truman Capote and Tennessee Williams is located in the charming Garden District, just a few blocks from where Cooper grew up with his parents and brothers Eli and Peyton Manning. Here, he shares his insider tips with T&C.

Where to Eat

Clancy’s

“This is a staple in our neighborhood. My wife Ellen and I live nearby and love sitting at the bar. We enjoy the oysters and we actually learned how to drink scotch here 20 years ago and now it’s often all we drink as our beverage of choice. To eat, have the crab salad, soft shell crab, fried eggplant—so many favorites, it’s an unbelievable menu. During the week it is mostly locals and weekends you tend to see more visitors in the hidden gem.”

Irene’s Cuisine

“Irene is in the kitchen, and she is a real character. You’ll find traditional Italian menu items such as cannelloni with New Orleans flavor. It is cozy, dark and intimate with small tables—perfect for a double date. Located in the French Quarter, it’s a fun spot and while you wait, they have a room in the back with a guy playing the piano. A must hit in Nola.”

Caribbean Room

“As a New Orleanian, I love that you have to wear a sport coat. It’s an opportunity to dress up for a special occasion. When you’re there you know you’re celebrating something special and with the incredible service they make you feel special. I grew up just blocks away going to Christmas dinner here when I was just a young fellow. It’s wonderful to be able to go back and dine there and appreciate it even more as an adult.”

Domilise’s Po-boys

“This local joint just serves lunch. I always order a large friend shrimp po’boy dressed with Zapps chips and a Barq’s root beer to reenergize and watch some football. There is always a line so you need time it right but it’s worth it.”

Where to Drink

St. Roch Market

“Very cool bar scene and a fun place to hang. Located in New Orleans’s Bywater district, St. Roch Market was recently restored in a beautiful 19th-century building. The market serves a modern take on classic Southern food. Definitely worth checking out!”

Hot Tin

“The Pontchartrain Hotel is the tallest building in uptown Nola right now, which provides the best rooftop view of the Mississippi Bridge and New Orleans. It’s a fun scene at anytime—5 p.m. happy hour or a 12 a.m. nightcap. There are great bartenders that make a darn good drink. The Skyliner is my favorite.”

Pascal’s Manale

“We head to this spot for a Friday afternoon tradition. I taught my kids how to eat raw oysters there. We get a cold beer, the kids get a root beer, and we stand at the bar, make our own cocktail sauce, and have a dozen oysters for a raw oyster fix. They also have delicious martinis.”

What to Do

Shopping on Magazine Street

“One of my favorite things to do is go shopping for art on Magazine Street. The street plays host to funky, eclectic shops. Antiques and unique artists showing off their talent with a plethora of goods. My wife and I have similar taste and we go there to shop for all sorts of options and wide variety of fun art pieces to jazz up our home.”

National WWII Museum

“With the amount of resources that have been put into The National WWII Museum, it’s beyond impressive. Whether or not you are a history buff, it’s totally worth anyone’s time. It’s the perfect rainy day activity.”

Local Tip

“Make a local friend and go to their house for a crawfish boil. In the spring, New Orleanians boil crawfish in the front or backyard and the smell of the spices and the food is just delicious. Corn, potatoes, mushrooms, onions, garlic—you name it. It is the absolute best. In a world of competitive eating, I’d likely win in a crawfish boil competition or come really close!”
