Flagler County was established in 1917 from portions of St. Johns and Volusia Counties and named for Henry Morrison Flagler, developer of the Florida East Coast Railroad. With its beautiful coastline, Flagler County began to attract tourists in the early 20th century. With the popular St. Augustine and Jacksonville areas to the north and Daytona Beach on the south, Flagler has it’s own laid back personality and style.
